View Full Version : 6.7L Development roadmap

GMPX
January 4th, 2011, 10:06 PM
Once the 5.9L ECM product is released and stable we will move on to the 2007+ 6.7L ECM, up to at least the 2009 model before they put the RSA security in the ECM, that will have to follow later.
We are hoping to offer stable 6.7L ECM reading with the 5.9L release so customers can start sending in reads from 6.7L trucks.

i am a Cummins 6.7 owner & a member of several Cummins / Dodge forums. Many... MANY... owners are looking forward to the advantages EFI will provide for controlling their engines. Thanks for your support. :good:

A couple of questions that seem to come up frequently are in regards to the TCM's, specifically for the 68RFE. Is there a plan to provide tuning for these?

Is there a plan to provide adjustments to the BCM, allowing options to be turned off and on? For example, if someone installs a remote start they have to pay a dealer to turn it on, or if they want / don't want daytime running lights they have to have a dealer turn them off or on... etc.

If this isn't the correct thread for questions please delete this post and direct me to the correct area.

Thanks

We know the 6.7L has the separate TCM, we have one here to play around with. At this stage I won't confirm support for it, however it would be a wise decision for us to invest some time at looking at that TCM at some point.
As far as programming the BCM etc, the answer is no to that, even on our GM supported vehicles it's only the engine and transmission computers we support.

Cheers,
Ross

Transmission tuning could be nice. I believe the 2010+ trucks ECM/TCM are contained in one unit

Yeah, the ECM on those looks totally different to the earlier 6.7L ones.

Just ordered a 2011 Ram 6.7

Hope you put out some EFI support, nothing else comes close.

How much more complex is the 2010+ ECM?

Toolie, I can't answer that question yet I'm afraid.

Any updates?

There will be no news of any significance on the 6.7L until the 5.9L tune and scan is complete and released.

I own a blue V2 (licensed for a Duramax), and have an 08 6.7L as well as an 05 5.9L. If you need a cal from either of those let me know. I would be glad to help.

Paul, If you could read your 5.9L truck that would be great.
Just make sure all your software and firmware is up to date:

Is he going to be able to read the '05? isn't that an SCI year?

GMPX
February 28th, 2011, 12:24 PM
Ah yeah, good point, he needs to see what model ECM it is first. If it's a late 2005 there is a very good chance it's got the right ECM.
Pop the hood and check the label on the side of the ECM, if it says CM - CM849 then you are in luck, if it says CM848 then it's an SCI ECM and you won't be able to read it.

Ross

Nothing news worthy, though as was mentioned elsewhere, we will be working on the 2012 GM vehicles this month as they hit the dealerships, so don't expect any 6.7 progress updates in July.

It will be a great thing, i have 2 drilling company customers with 30+ fleets each of 6.7s. I'm ready to be able to tune them as well! Don't worry guys, Ross and the team are still working on 5.9 stuff and it is going great, the success so far with 5.9 has been outstanding and you can bet the commitment to the 6.7 will be no less. Give them a few months to work on the newly released 2012 gms and iron out a few more 5.9 calibrations and you will start seeing some updates on the 6.7s.

Thank you EFILIVE team for doing such a great job, i'm very proud to do business with such a progressive company!

can we read the codes on the 6.7?

GMPX
August 23rd, 2011, 01:14 PM
As in DTC's? Yes that should be possible, but none of the scantool live data will work, it's different between the 5.9L & 6.7L.

Ross, just curious..how different is the ecm looking as far as in how fueling/timing is set up? Or have we not gotten that for yet? Curiosity kills the cat i know..lol

Thank you! Have a friend who needs dtc read on his and I did not know if it would work.

It works fine, I just tested it on our bench 6.7L ECM (see below). In the scantool connect to it as a "CMB CM849 Cummins" and it'll talk with the 6.7L.

I scanned the 6.7 yesterday and found a couple of codes. I was able to log rail psi, throttle position, and a few other things. Found out his fuel rail valve was popping off. He had it at the dealer numerous times and spent over 4k on it already. This was a quick simple fix. Thank You EFI and I look forward to further developments on the 6.7:thumb_yello:

The scanning worked!, I am surprised as the data streams are specific to each ECM type, I didn't think there was any way the 5.9L would match the 6.7L on any account.

Just some of them. Desired FRP was off it seemed. Actual FRP was accurate. TP was accurate. I can't remeber any of the other ones. I did not try reading it, I might go try that. I didn't think it was supposed to work either but, I had to try:)

So does this mean 6.7 progress will be sped up?

Sorry...........had to ask:grin:

GMPX
August 26th, 2011, 01:59 PM
Not really because we still have to check and confirm every PID, even if some match.
