Hi everyone

New to the forum and have only had my lovsæt duramax for 4 months.

I have totten a problem that is that the truck is regenerating the dpf for like three hours. It has just killed 33% Oil life ón one regeneration.
I drove on highway for atleast an hour and a half. Does antons have any idea why it is doing this. The truck is Stock with Banks air intake and Banks exhaust dpf back.

Thanks I hope someone Can help it is costing a fortune in Oil and diesel:bad:

hi thanks for the fast reply. Yeah I have thought of that also, just seem strange that it has not given any error messages or something. It is cold here these days maybe temperature can affect it. have also noticed that it smells more than normal when regenerating. Hmmm please fell free to come with your ideas.

Have thought of removing that dammm filter.... but still something is off.

thanks and have a good weekend.

How many miles are on the truck? Has it always taken this long?

It has 50600 miles on it, no it seemed like it regenerated a lot faster this summer when I bought it.

You still have a warranty, so I would take in honestly. That's unless you just want to do away with it and use EFILive and reprogram the computer to tell it your DPF is not there.

Once you tune the truck, you warranty will probably be voided though, just keep that in mind.

I took the DPF off of my fathers 2010 LMM and he loves the difference.

HEHE well GMs warranty does not count here in Europe so that is not an issue. The store/seller I bought the car from is willing to try look at it however trouble is there at 4 of these truck here in Denmark. Therefore noone here really knows about these lovely cars when trouble like this is a issue.

A friend of mine had a silverado witch he had pulled the pdf off on and he was very happy with it. He then tuned his car with ppe race +300 it was fresh ;-)

My thought is that something must be wrong since it is behaving as it is.

Oh yes it does make a difference. If you're not worried about warranty and GM won't help you over there then I would suggest to delete it and tune it. Problem solved, I believe the filter needs a hand cleaning otherwise.

Allright that is probably the end of it I do think you are right. How can it be cleaned by hand?

thanks

I'm not entirely sure, I've heard of dealers doing this though.

Do you let the truck idle alot, this can cause problems with the DPF

This is an efilive forum. Is it safe to assume your truck has been tuned with efilive? It is very easy to destroy regen effectiveness with tuning changes. Throw up a log with timing, fuel, pilot, post1 and post2, MAF, speed, rpm. Or post your tune. Seriously, I am surprised someone didn't suggest this sooner.

He said his truck is stock minus a banks intake and Banks exhaust from the DPF back. He's just looking for some help to find out why he has a problem, and then possibly to delete the DPF.

as usual, I got ahead of myself.

The log suggestion still applies. Add soot level to the pid list

hey thanks for the feedbacks.

It is not tuned, it seemed that the oil life killing has becoming worse and worse. In summer when I bought it it took about 10% oil life then 17% then 20% and then this last time 33%. I drove my truck to the dealer where I bought it from today its sunday so I just left it for him for tomorrow. My problem is really that they have no clue what so ever what is wrong. When driving on the highway it seem to lack a little power today, and seemed to have a deeper tone to it than normal. It was not regenerating as fuel consumption was quite normal but tone I think was different. I have been seriously thinking of removing the filter and buy like a ppe tuner to not have engine lamp on. Only thing is that I just want to try to make sure that it is not a deeper problem like the engine. I really appreciate your help and suggestions as no one here in little Denmark knows about these lovely trucks when it comes to problems like this.

Also maybe you guys can help me with another question: it seems like fifth gear is clicking twice almost like it shifts two times ( but it does not) I have had it calibrated but it has not really helped much. Do you have any idea in this matter?

Again I am really happy with your help.

all the best

sorry forgot to say that I do have shorts trips about 10 miles sometimes depending on where work is. Sometimes of-cause also long highway trips 150 miles and so ( remember this is a small country) but it is my truck for work and private driving. I have come to the conclusion that maybe I should have gotten a gasoline truck but just really love the duramax allison combi :-)

It has been quite cold the last two months around -5 to - 19 degrees C.

Again, do you realize that this is not a truck forum?

If you don't own EFILive, plan to own it, able to log your issue with EFILive, or have an EFILive related question, you should query some of the GM forums.

On the other hand, if you want to delete the dpf, some of us, me included, can get you a compatable tune. Nobody here is going to be able to diagnose your problem from 4000 miles away, unless you can provide the logged data requested above. Good luck. :)
