Could the follwing scenario be done?
- Friend reads his PCM with HP Tuners and e-mails it to me
- I read the bin file and make some changes with efi-live
- I send the updated bin file back to him and he uses HP tuners to write it to his PCM.
Should work without any issues, right?

NO. You can't re-save the file in a *.bin format. It is saved in a *.tun format that can't be read by HPT.

Bummer, I forgot that the .tun file had the history... I was hoping it was just extra stuff, but I did a quick test and the .tun file is actually smaller than the .bin file and appears to have some type of encoding.
I figured it would not be that easy.

You could can read his file so you can cut and paste for him with EFI then he could transpose values into .tun.
A few extra steps but--
