anyone have a nice tune for a 5.7 vortec

Hi Eric here, i am wondering if anybody has a worked on tune for my friends 98 pickup with a 5.7 , myself i have worked on my 2000 silverado but not to familliar with the vortects and i am far from being an expierienced tuner, i am ok on the tranny side because he has the same 4l60e as me , i know it would be better if i hooked up my wideband and went from there but really want to keep it simple because i dont really have the time now but i will do it later on , everything is stock except for the cat back exhaust and aftermarket air filter set up and he has removed his cats , oh by the way is it normal that after removing his cats he does not set off a code , thanks in advance, Eric

I had pulled the cat off my dakota and didn't set off codes. I attributed it to the fact that I had used two different O2 sensors ( they were both new ) and figured the values for the aft sensor must have been far enough off to trick the truck into believing the missing cat was working okay.
