I can't unlock my ECM. I have an 04.5 LLY Duramax and every time I try to unlock the ECM to copy my stock tune it gives me the "bootload error" I have tried about 10 times in a row with no luck.
I tried clicking on the "multiple keys" box and tried hooking the connectors and starting it up in the exact order the instructions say again no luck. I also just downloaded the latest version of 7.5 last night. So I don't think that is it.
What do I do????

If you have a FlashScan V2 interface please also ensure you have updated your firmware. Here are a couple of knowledgebase articles relating to software and firmware updates:

HawksFan, do you know the history of the truck? There is every chance if it has been tuned before the ECM has been locked by the previous tuner.

Un fortunately I bought the truck used and don't know the history so it might be locked is there any way to tell?
Thanks

- Connecting to the vehicle and your laptop
- Open the Tune Tool
- Go to the 'Flash->PCM Security' menu option
- Select the 'LLY Duramax Diesel ECM'
- Click the 'Check Status' button
That will attempt to send up the EFILive bootloader. If it is not able to it will generally mean that either the ECM is locked, or the controller selection is incorrect.

I have seen on several LLY's if they have an aftermarket radio you may have to pull the radio fuse.

His is failing well before that at the bootloader phase. But yes it is typical that the Radio and Info fuses need to be pulled to stop those devices interfering on the bus (damn non-conforming devices).
