Looking for someone who can tune a stock 1500 Silverado 5.3 to get a little more "get up and go" out of it.

Hello MacDaddy,

Given that your 5.3 L pickup is a 2008 model, it will probably have a 4L60/65/70 style transmission - if memory serves the 6L80 wasn’t available until 2009 with the 5.3 L.

If the engine is stock, and the air intake and exhaust systems are also stock - there is not much additional power to be realized from modifying the ECM tune.

However, driveability or “get up and go” (as you described it) may be greatly enhanced by tuning efforts focused on the TCM. The 4L60/65/70 transmissions are reasonably user friendly, and fairly “straight forward” to tune - especially when compared to the 6L80/90 transmissions.

Take a look at the following thread regarding relevant transmission tuning tips. Go to post #24 in the thread - there are multiple links from there.

Also - although the engine cover bears a “Vortec” label, the drivetrain is a Gen IV variant with an E38 ECM and T42 TCM. Take a look at the following sub-forms for relevant information:

Gen IV V8 specific
V8, V6, L4 - E38, E67 & E37 ECMs
4speed RWD/FWD Transmission Tuning (incl T42)
