Issues with DTC info

First of working on a 06 Corvette. When the scanner is hooked up with laptop and try and scan for DTC, it locks up the program. This is with ignition on and not running. I have tried it with the car running and it cut off and then locked up the program. If I disconnect the laptop then it will give the dtc and clear just fine.

the latest as of last week, I believe without looking at my computer it is build 139

Ok, sometime I am not that great at following directions, but after I hit F6 I have nothing else in these directions on my screen. I do not see anything that says "Device Setting" or anything that might lead me to it. I also don't have a single Icon for scan and tune, they are seperate. Sorry, I hope I am not a bother with this, but I just don't see it.

Did you install the V8 software, this has Scan&Tune (S&T) software and EFILive Explorer (EE) software...?

What version of bootblock and firmware are in your V2...?

No, I did not. Is everything worked out with the V8 software now. I thought I remember someone telling me to stick with the 7.5, I have currently running 7.5 build 139.

V8 includes new V2 bootblock/firmware, use EE to flash it into your V2.

When did you buy your V2...?

What firmware version does it currently have...?

How do I check it, I am looking at the V2 itself and it is no where to see it.
When I turn it on it just says option.txt not found. I bought it around July or August of 2010.

Ok, I loaded V8 and updated the bootblock and firmware.

Why is the scanner not working????? It says it is not released yet. Did I just get rid of my scanning capabilities by going to V8?

Ok, you now got your V2 firmware up to date (V7 software requires V2 firmware to be up to date).

Start the V7 scantool to do scanning with laptop in vehicle.



The traditional scantool and tunetools are the V7 software...

i.e. you still use the V7 software to log and flash with laptop in vehicle.

Currently, the V8 software adds the Black Box mode tools:
EE is used for:
- flashing bootblock/firmware into V2,
- formatting the Config space on V2,
- setting V2 splash screen and date/time,
- retrieving BBL and BBR files,
- uploading BBW (.ctd) files.

S&T is used for:
- setting/programming V2 options,
- creating/setting/programming V2 BBL pids/pidlists,
- creating/setting/programming V2 BBR/BBW modules (PCM, ECM, TCM).

The difference between V7 and V8 softwares:

V7 software:
this is the traditional scantool and tunetool that you use for scanning/logging/reading/flashing with laptop in vehicle;
scantool is also used for viewing log files; tunetool is also used for editing tune files.

V8 software:
this is the Black Box mode configuration tools, S&T and EE (described above), and includes V2 firmware/bootblock.
S&T is used to configure V2 for BBL/BBR/BBW; EE is used to copy logs and tunes between V2 and laptop;
V8 software will eventually provide the functionality of the V7 scantool/tunetool.
