We're working on a tap signal interface module to easily make generic open/closed tap up/down switches compatible with the T42 and T43 TCMs. Being that the T42 and T43 are used with Gen IV (58x) systems only, this will be part of the EFI Connection 58x lineup.

Here's a test (8mb video):

5/3/2011 EDIT...here is the completed module. EFI# 110-00025 (http://www.eficonnection.com/eficonnection/ItemDetails.aspx?ItemId=1050).

That would be aweseome! Swaps galore will have tap shift access now!
BTW, the T42 was used with 24x E40s for 05-06, might make a difference integrating an E40 vs E38/67.

looks great!
as a side note, the T42 and T43 are also used with the Bosch controllers on the Holden V6's.

I wonder if we could adapt a t43 to an LT1

With a 58x wheel you can run a E38 and T43

A little more about this. The solution will use a Delphi header/connector and CNC milled aluminum enclosure. We are avoiding a generic plastic project box with wire leads to solder to. The module will include an unassembled 6 cavity Delphi Micro-Pack 100 connector. Run your wires to it and make a nice connection.

Good call, but I'm not aware of any tap shift enabled 24x vehicles. Might be able to use the newer (58x) TCM calibration with the E40? Not sure if the calibrations will be compatible. That's going to be a trial/error test for sure.

There are a few problems with this...
- The T43 requires CAN communications and the LS1 PCM has no provision for CAN.
- No one makes a torque converter to mate the 6L80E or 6L90E to an early SBC or LT1.
- A Gen IV controller (58x) will require a 4x cam signal. The only solution is a 4x reluctor for a Vortec distributor (http://www.eficonnection.com/eficonnection/ItemDetails.aspx?ItemId=807).

Unfortunately the 4x cam signal solution in the front of the LT1 did not work, so LT1 owners will have to use the Vortec distributor. TPIS makes a MiniRam for the LT1 and it has a distributor hole.

Ouch... I would have thought it could work, just like the one you designed for me...
Oh well... :) The E38 spits out data so fast it's ridiculous... All we need it to be perfect would be a moates chip in there!
