View Full Version : EFI Connection Cruise Control Signal Interface

In addition to the tap signal interface, we're also working on a cruise signal interface. Newer ECMs and BCMs require a varying voltage (through one wire) to indicate the driver's cruise signal commands. Early (and aftermarket) cruise control switches pulse 12V to indicate On/Off, Set/Coast, Accel/Resume. This interface will be much like the tap signal interface (http://forum.efilive.com/showthread.php?15835-EFI-Connection-Tap-Signal-Interface) with custom CNC enclosure using a Delphi header/connector solution.

Mike you are doing some hardcore stuff!!!!!!

with this box can it be wired into a conversion that is running a e38 and t43 and then you can run a 2 wire switch (the type that varies the voltage depending on fucntion required) ? as well as the more traditional aftermarket switch which just momentary puts 12v down seperate wires for different functions?

Inputs are 12v On/Off, 12v Set/Coast, 12v Accel/Resume. Output is varying voltage to ECM/BCM. This is the opposite of what you are requesting.
You could use Rostra type cruise switches with this module.

Update.
Here's the prototype enclosure...before anodize and artwork.

here is my question.
I have put a new outlander steering wheel in my 2000 eclipse.
the steering wheel is multifuctional with audio and cruise controls.
for the audio I have an interface.
but the cruise control still doesn't work.
I have 2 wires in my sterring wheel for the signal controls.
if I put this interface in my car can I use my aftermarket cruise control with the steering wheel switches?
and how to wire it up to the 2 wires in my steering wheel?

Probably not, but I'm unfamilar with the wiring (and resistance values) of the cruise control system you are working with.

ah damn,
so i will never let my aftermarket cruise control work with the steering wheel switches.
or is it possible to make an interface for me so it can work?
what do you need to know for that?

Research, test, and produce a one-off cruise control module (and for a vehicle type that is unrelated to GM performance)? I'm sorry, but I couldn't even put a price tag on a one-off product that wouldn't appear to be offensive. What you are asking is much more involved than you realize.

Excellent!
Is there a chance of building one box to do cruise, A/C turn on/off, tachometer signal output?
Maybe whatever else is needed to network E40, E38 system into older non networked chassis.
John....just think one box to interface all of these simple signals.

I'm with ssvolvo and futhurmore what is up with the e40 tach output, can't get it to work with my Stewart Warner gauge?

Also when is the box available, I'd like to see if it works with the 06' miata steering wheel controls.

Great work, I'd love to have a cruise module to do the opposite, I need to take a two wire cruise switch, verrying resistance, to have thud traditional 4 wire pulse output.
Potential uses Colorado/canyon h3 v8 swaps, or diesel swaps
Solstice swaps
Depending on price I'd be interested in 5 of them of the bat!
Thanks
