Is it possible to pull timing in only one gear? I am getting a little knock retard in 3rd but not in 1st or 2nd.
I looked at the log and noticed that the cell where it knocks in 3rd is shared by the other gears. What I mean is say I am at 4500 rpm and cylair 0.80 in 1st and it does not have any KR but when it reaches that same cell in 3rd in has KR.
If I just pull timing in that cell then it will pull it for all gears.

I don't think there is any legitimate way to do it. Believe me I have thought of it. Table B5908 is the closest you can come, but that still won't do it.
It still seems like the best strategy is to tune KR for the gears that have the most load..I.E., your main drive gear. If you think it through, you are in 1st gear for like 3 seconds at most..even less time at that load you described. So pulling timing by 2-3 degrees..will that even slow you down .005 second? But the Drive gear(s) will take longer. There KR will slow you down and worst detonate you.
Other than perfect fueling, you can work on the KR Recovery Rate(s). I have most of mine at .25. At least you'll get a fast recovery.
Good question, though..:)

It would have been nice to be able to do it. I was bracket racing and every little bit counts.
I fixed it though. I just added a little bit of race gas in the tank. :angel_innocent:
