I've been tuning a lot of e38s, so i'm pretty comfortable choosing PIDs and logging/tuning.. a few days ago came across a 2010 camaro and could not log any of the E38 specific PIDs.. they are showing not available..
i can log rpm and all the other PID categories, but just not the ones under E38 like commanded air fuel or calculated airflow.. they just show not available..
i tried other vehicles to confirm so i know my V2 and software are working fine, i changed the ECM, full flashed the new one and started logging before running the engine, and all the E38 PIDs were available, after starting the engine they all became unavailable.. and not matter what i do could not get them again...
help help help...

The first thing I ask you to confirm is that you are running the latest software and firmware? Please see these knowledgebase articles relating to software and firmware updates:

In older versions of the software the VIN determined which enhanced PIDs that would show up. So if the VIN was not correct or was not a recognized VIN then you may not see them.
With the newest software version the controller selection you make when connecting to the vehicle determines which enhanced PIDs show up. So if you install the latest software the VIN won't matter.

Look for files called
\My Documents\EFILive\V7.5\PIDs\2G1FK1EJ_A9_11.vpl
and
\My Documents\EFILive\V7.5\PIDs\2G1FK1EJ_A9_18.vpl
and delete them both if they exist, then restart the software.

Those files store the valid PIDs for your vehicle (based on VIN). The one ending in 11 is for the ECM, the one ending in 18 is for the TCM.
If those files are not present, then when you next connect to your vehicle the software should automatically re-validate all the PIDs.

ok.. i think we are getting somewhere... i deleted the two files.. but after running the software 2G1FK1EJ_A9_11.vpl returns.

That file should return as Paul mentions when the software is run and a connection made to the ECM. It contains a listing of the validated PIDs for your ECM. Are the PIDs valid now?

Can you perform a PID validation again and when its finished, generate an error report using the menu option File->Generate error report...
Save the error report and email it to me (paul@efilive.com)
