Hi radical,

Welcome to the forum

Do you have your V2 firmware up to date...?

Install V7 and V8 software from here (http://www.efilive.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=48&Itemid=133).

V8 software includes V2 firmware that you have to flash into V2.

V8 software includes two programs:
- EFILive Explorer (EE),
- Scan & Tune (S&T).

start EE, goto the Firmware tab, and flash bootblock (if it's not the latest), and then flash firmware;

the bootblock/firmware files for FlashScan V2 have filename starting with FS_.

Then when you finished flashing firmware, use S&T to configure V2 BBL/BBF, and V2 settings:

ok set all that up now... if i try with the s&t to read the tune it tells me $0537 the controller is locked with a custom key. if i try to read the tune with v7.5 it tells me something similar... if i select try alt keys then it comes up with the same bootloader rejected error as i stated in the original post

Has the vehicle been tuned before (to your knowledge). It seems like it may have been and the ECM has been locked by a previous tuner.

is there any way to get around this besides buying a new ecm

I have received that error message before when the target controller was incorrectly selected. You selected an E40 as the ECM correct ? Also, if you are trying to BBR - you have programmed the controllers into your V2 (again) since updating the firmware ?

If your software is up to date, you should be able to read a non-locked E40 using the V2 as a passthrough device - using the V7.5 Tune Tool on your laptop as the primary interface. If you are trying to BBR (using just the V2) the controllers will need to be up to date. With your V2 connected to your laptop, open V8 Scan & Tune, select the BBx tab on the left side of the screen, then the Tune tab, there will be a red program button at the bottom.

There is an arrow on the right edge of the program button, click on that, a submenu will appear - select the program all controllers option. You will need to do the same in the Scan tab with the PIDs.

Taz

tried everything suggested still says that controller is locked by a custom key thanks for the help i guess that i will need a new ecm to correct this. i was reading that waitforme can unlock ecm's that are locked and return them back to stock is there any truth to this... thanks for all the help so far its greatly appreciated just verifying that im doing everything correct now

Just for kicks, have you tried both V8 and V7.5? Have you tried selecting the "Try alternate keys" checkbox in the read window? And I see a new option in V8, "Assume lock is faulty", try reading with both Alt Keys and that checkbox checked. Cant hurt, trying to go through everything before you have to pay to have the ECM unlocked!

yea i tried both v8 and v7.5 and tried selecting both the try alt keys and assume lock is faulty... even tried guessing the key after all that and still no luck guess im kinda stuck gonna send the ecm out today... i read on one of wait4me's posts that its only 35.00 to unlock the ecm so mainly its just time that im out now... really appreciate all the help.... thanks again!!!
