I really would appreciate any creative ideas asap about this please. I am working on an '07 Equinox with an E38 / 3.4 liter. In a nutshell, I need to prevent the traction light from illuminating due to a single C code. This particular C code is not one that my tune can access (we only have a handful, speed sensors etc.) Of course the short answer is nothing can be done and we must fix the actual cause or leave it alone. But I am exploring alternative solutions because I am really trying to help someone out. I think its a communication code, I'll post it soon. But it used to appear together with P2135 and I have shut that off hoping but doubting it will go away. So basically, is there a way that I can access more C codes or alter the operation of the controllers somehow? Thanks.

There's no way to get in the TCM right? Isn't it a 4 speed / T42? Would it help anyway? What about a custom OS?

I just learned soemthing too, on my master DTC list in SI it tells you the module that stores the DTCs. So if it's one that isn't in a supported module, there is no hope anywway right?

OK so basically it's a C0561 System Disabled Information Stored and it's in the EBCM, PSCM and CCM.
Any hope of fixing this from the ECM? "Diagnostic Aids
DTC C0561 is an indicator that the CCM receives an invalid message from the ECM, or EBCM , and does not necessarily indicate a fault is present with the CCM. This DTC should not be used as a fault indicator, but rather as a symptom to assist in the diagnosis of these other systems."

:) LOL with all my crazy posts and responding to myself no one even bothered hehe :)
So right now they are test driving, the MIL of course is off but C0561 keeps setting the traction light. My real question is, the 561 is basically a diagnostic "hint" code, what gives? They already replaced the ECM and it recently had engine work, they fixed the wire from the ECM to the EBCM and the description of the code is that it's NOT the EPS/EBCM/CCM module, rather an incorrect signal from the ECM (which is new and so is the wiring). The truck is 2 wheel drive. Any ideas? Hopefully we'll get rid of this thing soon and can forget all about it. This is not how I usually work, just helping out...

I read your posts, but I didn't have the info handy...

I'll see if I can lookup C0561 in the Service Manual, it'll take me a couple of days.

So vehicle is 2007 Equinox 3.4L with E38.

Yes exactly and thanks a lot. I know I'm all over the place with the info but it gets hectic at the dealer when I am in and out of cars "tuning" and stuff. :) THANKS!

Car is gone for now which is good... released it after a 5 mile test drive with no codes / light. Weird ...

So yeah this one is STILL kicking our butts. It came back in limp mode codes set. I put a throttle body on it because it keeps setting a P2135, and both the ECM and wiring have been changed by another tech already. (2135 is for tps 1-2 correlation and the TPS 1 & 2 are integral to throttle body module -TAC). It drove great for almost 10 miles and I thought it was fixed and then....P2135. So I am back focusing on the P2135 and guessing it's causing the C0561 71 as a symptom. Sorry that this is basically a mechanical diagnosis topic it's just that the E38 is tuned (licensed) and we are using the Flashscan and Scan Tool to diagnose it. Right now I am wondering about the wiring between the TAC module and ECM that was done by another tech, he said he didn't have the terminal to run it into the ECM so he just replaced 90% of the wire. That is a variable. This one is interesting.....!

I pm'd myself a reminder to look this up in the service manual when I get home.

Yeah no worries :) if we can only learn something from this I'd be satisfied. All the techs here have semi-given up on this sucker. I bet it's something simple... :) thanks anyways

I was wondering if we could magically remove this thing from our lives by slightly changing the values in the tune for the throttle voltage (there are two settings, I'll post the exact table soon). That may be the only hope. They have thrown every single semi related part at it and STILL, it drives fine for days, then the first day the customer takes it it comes back in limp mode with a P2135 and C0561 71 (ebcm). Just an update :) wow what a headache. I hope it will make us smarter somehow :s

This is pretty weird (to me at least)...

C0561 = System Disabled Information Stored = EBCM/ABS

DTC C0561

Diagnostic Instructions

• Perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle (http://forum.efilive.com/cellHandler.do?cellId=72794&refDoc=1737587&from=sm) prior to using this diagnostic procedure.

• Review Strategy Based Diagnosis (http://forum.efilive.com/cellHandler.do?cellId=161235&refDoc=1737587&from=sm) for an overview of the diagnostic approach.

• Diagnostic Procedure Instructions (http://forum.efilive.com/cellHandler.do?cellId=161236&refDoc=1737587&from=sm) provides an overview of each diagnostic category.

DTC Descriptor

(http://forum.efilive.com/#ss2-1737587)DTC C0561 71: System Disabled Information Stored

Circuit/System Description

(http://forum.efilive.com/#ss3-1737587) The electronic brake control module (EBCM) disables the ABS when other electronic control modules set DTCs for components that effect the operation of the traction control system.

Conditions for Running the DTC

• The ignition switch is in the ON position.

• Ignition voltage is greater than 8 volts.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

(http://forum.efilive.com/#ss5-1737587) The powertrain control module (PCM) or body control module (BCM) diagnosis a condition prevention the engine control portion of the traction control function and sends a serial data message to the EBCM indicating that torque reduction is not allowed. The PCM or BCM will typically set a DTC and the EBCM will set this DTC.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

(http://forum.efilive.com/#ss6-1737587) One or more of the following actions may occur:

• The EBCM disables the traction control system (TCS) until the DTC becomes a history DTC.

• The traction Off Indicator turns ON.

• The Antilock Brake System (ABS) remains functional.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

• The condition for the DTC is no longer present.

• The EBCM automatically clears the history DTC when a current DTC is not detected in 100 consecutive drive cycles.

Circuit/System Verification

(http://forum.efilive.com/#ss8-1737587) This DTC is for information only. As an aid to the technician, this DTC indicates that there are no problems in the ABS/TCS system.

Repair Instructions

(http://forum.efilive.com/#ss9-1737587) Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification (http://forum.efilive.com/cellHandler.do?cellId=143214&refDoc=1737587&from=sm) after completing the diagnostic procedure.

LOL I know, I'm looking at the same thing and scratching my head. We have failed to diagnose or repair this issue because the info is vague, I have a gut feeling that P2135 is the root cause of the C0561. Thanks for you time looking into it :)
