Trans compatability question

I have 1994 9c1 Caprice. The 4l60e has suddenly started acting really bad. Started with a grinding noise and roughness in 1st gear that went away as soon as it shifted to second. Now reverse engages then acts like the brake is on. If you step on the gas reverse suddenly bangs. I parked it.Any thoughts on causes?
Also wondered if 4l60e from a 94 2wd van can be used? Thank you for your time.

Same year 2WD 4L60E's would be the compatible... but let someone who knows more detail chime in.

that should work make sure you change the torque converter and flush out the trans cooler or must likely the next one will die too
