Hi, I'm new to the E38 ECM world, i'm use to the old 411 pcm's. I was wondering if it is possible to put an LS7 from a vette with the 6L80E tranny. As far as i know the ls7 never had an auto behind it. How would one start with setting up the ECM to talk to the TCM. Its not like the 411 pcm's were i could just swap segments. Like i said i'm new to this so bare with me

Yes, it is possible... the 6L90 might be better.

Take a look at the link below ...

http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/conversions-hybrids/898899-6l80-6l90-into-68-camaro-does-go.html

It's a 1st Gen Camaro with an LS7 6L90.

Thanks for the info, i did a quick read on the forum taz posted, but didn't find a lot of info on how they made the ECM and TCM talk to each other, all i saw was they did it with EFI live. They focus more on making it fit in the car. I will read them in more detail later and see if i missed something. Any more info would be much appreciated.

The A6 transmission (6L80 / 6L90) uses a T43 TCM, and was originally installed in Gen IV vehicles with E38 and E67 ECMs. I have never done an LS7 / A6 conversion - my understanding is that you would begin with a "matched" set of ECM / TCM tunes (E38 / T43 or E67 / T43) and develop a custom tune from this starting point of known compatibility.

I kinda thought that would be the road i would have to travel. I guess i was hoping someone found a way to use the LS7 file and just edit it to have an automatic instead of the manual. LOL I wish my customers would bring me something simple once and a while.

This is not my area of expertise .... I know 2007 Corvettes with the E38 ECM used the same OS for the LS7 with a manual trans, and for the LS2 with a manual or A6 trans. Not sure how many other OS compatibility instances exist for the LS7.

The ECM uses OS 12614676, and the TCM uses OS 24239353.

Anyone have a file for an 06 vette with 6l80e trans. os 12614676. thanks.

OS 12614676 is a 2007 Corvette OS - was not used on 2006 models. I can't recall the original 2006 Corvette OS - know they were upgraded (via TIS) to OS 12614682.

Sorry, you are correct its an 07 vette. VIN #1G1YY26U175100681 OS 12614676 seems to be current according to TIS2 Web.

OS 12614676 is available on the Holden Crazy / Tune File Depot website - both for 2007 Corvette LS2 6L80 and a 2007 Corvette LS7 manual.

Sadly GM left any auto trans coding and parameters out of the LS7 calibration. The A6 does require a matching engine calibration of the right year.

What kind of car is this in? Adding an A6 to a Z06?

TCM is the same in both A6's of the same year, but contains different calibrations year to year...some of which can brick the TCM from 09 onwards and vice versa.

And yes the LS7/A6 combo we did on the 68 Camaro did use EFILive to do the trans. the competition does not provide the ability to directly do anything on GM autos.

Cheers.

Aren't production automatic boxes,

unable to take the high rpm limits of engines like the LS7?

I read somewhere that that was why M3/M5's were never offered with an auto trans.

I guess its sort of like flying helicopters inverted and doing aeros...depends on how much and how hard. :)

Have heard stories of A6's not handling diff ratios that are numerically too high. The output stage goes pop for over rev.

Would guess Bimmers M division thought that an auto in in M car would not be "sporty" enough...and preferred the SMG to fill that gap. Would much rather the SMG than an auto thats for sure. Its a dream once you get used paddle shifting. :)
