I have a customer with a school bus with an allison 2000. it is having issues and was wondering if there was a place that makes an RJ45 to j1939 cable and if it would work with the V2. or is this is even possible. From what i've read so far the only thing standing in my way is that flashscan cables are for OBD2 and the bus uses a round 9 pin ISO data connector.

I believe you can hook an OBD2 style plug into it like it would be on a truck and read it that way. Basically you would have to make a bench harness to do it.

Even if you do that, I doubt EFILive supports it as its not an Allison 1000 TCM...

From some info i have read it is suggested all five speeds use the same TCM. I dont necessarily need to tune it just log some data with the scan tool i already own, and my favorite to use:)

99-05 5 speed ALLISON 1000/2000/2400 all use the same TCM. There is SEVERAL different operating systems for them though, and then you throw in ALLISON customized ones into the mix as well.

I just read an Allison2000/2400 TCM. Interesting indeed! Plugged it into my '02 chevy and saved the OS to my library. Yes they can be tuned with EFILive!

FLEECE has been doing this for awhile now. He uses some custom software he has to make OS changes, then EFILIVE to make shift point changes(at least that is what he has posted in the past).

Can it tune any Allison or just some ? What specific model did you plug into ?

I believe you can modify most all of the 5 speed gen 3 style TCM's from ALLISON for the 1K/2K series trans. Only a few of the GEN4 TCM's can be tuned though as EFILIVE doesn't support full reading of the GEN4 TCM's do to the amount of info they have in them and how long the read time would be.

The Allison 2000 OS is a standalone system, no engine data is sent to the trans.

This only works on a 5speed.
