So I updated my 01 TA to a tune I use at the drag strip and my air bag light came on. I can not clear the code the light comes right back on. There were no lights prior to me loading the raceing tune on the car.

Any thoughts

Your TA is a 2001 ? Is the drag strip tune also a 2001 OS ? The reason I ask is that in Gen III trucks (not sure about Camaro / Firebird) the 1999 OS and IPC have unique parameters. If you loaded a 1999 OS (or are using a 1999 IPC), it may cause the air bag light to illuminate.

it'a a 2001 TA with the original operating software I did a compleate reflash when I loaded that tune and I also needed to do a C.A.S.E after.

Along with the CASE, did you also relink the BCM ? Given that there was no change in the OS or "hard parts" its probable that this a communication issue, and doubtful there is an actual problem with the SIR (air bag).

B1001 option configuration error status "HC" module "$58 inflatable restraint sensing and diagnostic module"

how do you do a BCM relearn I did a few searches and came up with nothing?

In the V7 Tune Tool ... click on the "Flash" menu at the top of the screen ... then click on "PCM Security" ... a window will open with 3 tabs at the top ... "VAT Relink" should be the center tab ...

I seen the VATS relearn but that is for the security module right? I gave it a try anyway with no luck light is still on. I did notice my vin is zeroed out I don't know how long that is been like that never noticed it.

The VIN is stored in the PCM itself .... flashing an operating system and / or calibration won't change it ... if you want to change it - the tab is beside the VATS Relink tab.

B1001 is often caused by the SIR SDM (Sensing & Diagnostic Module) when it fails to communicate with the BCM, or fails to validate SIR related data stored in the BCM.

Not sure what to try next, relinking the BCM should have rectified that condition.

Did a quick B1001 search ... many root causes ... among them are incorrect VIN and voltage issues. Try inputting the correct VIN into the PCM. May or may not have to follow this up with another VATS (BCM) Relink.

thanks for the help TAZ reseting the VATS didn't do it but when I noticed the vin zeroed while i was doing the vats relearn. So I inputed the correct vin and viola no more light, I would have never found the bad vin info if you did't ask me to do a bcm relearn.
I did a GOOGLE seach for B1001 and I found the $58 module is programed to the vin of the vic and that was my issue thanks.

Nicely done. The air bags are inhibited (don't work) when that light is on - never a good thing !

In the file you full flashed that caused the DTC to trigger, check what the value of the VIN is.
