I have a 1995 Buick Riviera 3.8L Supercharged (Vin "1"). An older post makes reference to a repository of definitions, here (http://forum.efilive.com/showthread.php?5701-Get-a-FREE-copy-of-EFILive-V4-Professional&p=50792&viewfull=1#post50792), that is no longer up.
It is my understanding that with the definition file, I will be able to read the first 8 DTC codes with the evaluation version of the software. Is that the first 8 codes in the onboard computer or first 8 codes listed in the definition file?

Thank you Andrew.
I am using the downloaded evaluation copy of EFILiveV4 and the vehicl definition file you sent me. I guess my car's PCM is communicating with EFILive but is there a way to tell for sure? I do have a green indicator which makes me think I have a connection established, is that right?
I am completely stupid on this stuff. I don't know what chatter is, whether or not my car chatters, etc.
When I select the "transmit fixed data stream" macro and then with the key turned on, click the green button on the tool bar to start ALDL I see the macro starting and then I get some messages about timeouts expected headers not received, then the macro ends.
Again I'm not sure at this point if my PCM is sending data or not?
