View Full Version : Original V2 - Cant upgrade BootBlock - 2.04.10

I have never updated the bootblock or firmware on my V2 since I bought it new in 2007.

It has Firmware 2.04.60 and bootblock 2.04.10.

When I hooked it up to my laptop with EFI V7.5 only, and try to update the firmware, it says: The device has previously been upgraded to boot block v 2.05.xx.

When I hook it up to my other laptop that has V8 in it, it cant connect to it and says to make sure the bootblock is at least 2.05.xx or greater.

So I am stuck. V7 thinks it is upgraded, V8, thinks it is not.

The screen on the V2, under FlashScan Info, says it is the numbers I posted above.

Suggestions?

Use EFILive Firmware Programmer and use the firmware file 2.04.72 located in C:\Program Files\EFILive\V7.5 [Program Files (x86) if 64 bit Windows]. Then you should be able to update the bootblock and firmware to the latest 2.07.02 bootblock and 2.07.12 firmware using EFILive HAPI. Open HAPI, then click the F6: Firmware tab, update the bootblock first then the firmware.

Make sure you download the latest V7.5 and V8 software from the main EFILive.com downloads page, and install them BOTH on the same computer.

Yeah, that is one of the steps I tried.

I opened up Flashscan Firmware Programmer from the EFI v7.5 directory.

I then picked c:\program files\efilive\v7.5\fsprog_v2_4_72.ffw

When I click the program button, i get the error I previously mentioned.

The attached device has previously been upgraded to boot block V2.05.xx or greater.
The "EFILive Flashscan V2 Programmer" can only be used to program devices with bootblock V2.04.xx or less.

Please use the "EFILive Explorer" program to program devices with boot block V2.05.xx or greater.

I click the About button, it says. "FlashScan V2 Firmware Programmer. V2.04.50 (build 40)
