View Full Version : Cant BBX read Tune, I get error $050B
LS1_Dragster

I've done all the updates...several times. I've formated the V2, both the SD card and file system. I've used the factory options.txt, I've updated the boot block and firmware to 2.07.02 and 2.07.13, I've done all I can do
I've spent most my valuable day messing with this, I sure wish this upgrade worked!
Please let me know what I need to do to fix this.

Uninstall tune and scan tool reboot than reinstall both and than update from start, all programs look for EFI click you will see tune click update. Do the same with scan. When done update firmware

Done all that except the reboot....

I assume you know this, but if not. Open Scan and Tune, choose BBX. On both the Scan and Tune pages select only the controllers you're interested in, then by clicking on the little arrow on the right edge of the Program button, format the config file and then choose Program All. Then it should work.

Didn't notice I'm getting $0185 missing directory when the scan tool starts. I've removed the SD card, formated the flash ram, program all etc. and it still gets that error. This seems that maybe it's the core of the problem and why I'm getting the $050B error.
Any new ideas?

No, thats not the problem, in all the messing around I must of left it in an unusable state. I re-installed the files and the 0185 error is gone but the 050B is still there.
I guess I should reload the old firmware and bootblock and move on....

I found the reason why it's not working. If I download from your site it has the correct files but when I run the update program they get written over with an older version....So, your update is screwing it up!

I appreciate your help, and as I indicated earlier I did indeed uninstall it. I've been IT for 30 years!
Also, like I said, it's their update that writes the wrong version files over the correct files.

Hey Dragster, Did you fix the prob? I'm still have this prob.Did you install builds 180/170 manually (double click on the V7/V8 .exe files)...?

Did you follow these steps:
Updated instructions for installing updated software/firmware:
Download and install V7 build 180 and V8 build 170 (i.e. install by doubling clicking on the .exe files);
then using V8 EFLive Explorer do this:
- goto thew Firmware tab,
- update the bootblock to 2.07.03,
- update the firmware to 2.07.22,
- exit from EE.
then using V8 Scan & Tune do this:
- goto the BBx tab,
- click Read,
- click Save (and if asked specify filename Options.txt),
- click the down arrow on the Program button and select Format Config File System,
- click the down arrow on the Program button and select Program All Required Data (Slower),
- exit from the tab and exit from S&T.
Also, using V8 Scan & Tune, do the same on the Devices tab (filename is Settings.dat).

Is there a way to tell in the manually installed software was installed correctly? When I double click. I asks run? I click yes...

What are you double clicking on...?
Open the V7 tunetool and go Help->About, what build version does it say...?
Open the V7 S&T program, it displays the build version, what does it say...?

;
; *Section_Name is the *PSL_XX where XX matches the entry number (between 01 and 32 inclusive)
; in the *PID_SELECTIONS section
;
; Node: Is one of PCM, ECM or TCM (use "-" for external PIDs).
; PCM = Powertrain control modules, engine and trans combined into one module.
; ECM = Dedicated engine control modules only.
; TCM = Dedicated transmission control modules only.
;
; If you are unsure whether to use ECM or PCM, use PCM. PCM will match both ECM and PCM.
; The Node specifies from which module the PID will be retrieved.
; i.e. ECM-RPM v's TCM-RPM.
;
; PID: Is the PID name
;
; Custom:Is six ":" separated fields:
; Cap: Upto 11 characters of user defined display name.
; Units: Upto 11 characters of user defined units name.
; Prec: number of decimal places to display.
; Fact: Factor multiplied to the default Metric value to calculate the Custom value.
; Offs: Offset added to the default Metric value to calculate the Custom value.
; Inv: If set to Y, the default Metric value is inverted before applying the Factor and Offset.
;
; Alarm: Is five ":" separated fields:
; min: Minimum value, below which the alarm will sound.
; max: Maximum value, above which the alarm will sound.
; style: Is one of:
; 0 = No sound, No LEDs
; 1 = Low pitch
; 2 = Medium Pitch
; 3 = High Pitch
; 4 = Very high Pitch
; 8 = Illuminate LED 1
; 16 = Illuminate LED 2
; 32 = Illuminate LED 3
; 64 = Illuminate LED 4
; 128 = Illuminate LED 5
; Add Pitch and LED values together to enable audio and visual alarms.
; For example, for Medium Pitch and LED 4, use 2+64 = 66
; time: Time (in 10ms increments) for which alarm will be sounded.
; hold: Time (in seconds) for which the displayed value will be frozen (not implemented yet).

Can you add the AL5 pids in the same entry as the LLY (along with the TCM type)...
[ each pidlist entry can log 1 ECM type and 1 TCM type ]
I think (but am not certain) that a TCM entry needs to ride along with an ECM entry.
