V2, Windows 7, most recent Scan and tune 7.5 downloaded from efilive.com, and I still cant get my firmware updated.

My V2 firmware version 2.04.05
V2 boot block version 2.06.02

I dont have V8 installed for the bbl and what not.

I have read through the forums, and it seems that none of the updates are working. I tried holding CTRL while plugging in the V2 usb, and then update firmware, it tells me theres a boot block and I cant use that way. I tried http://support.efilive.com/kb_article.php?ref=7243-SFGL-2949, and I am just completely lost.

I cant tune my truck without this update. I guess I shouldnt have set my tuner off to the side for 2 years.

Help, anyone please? Perhaps you can walk me through it over the phone. email me if you need. mmbajakid@gmail.com

You HAVE to have both V7.5 and V8 installed. Install V8 first, then reconnect your V2 (normally, DO NOT PUT IN DEADPOLL). A little FlashScan icon will appear in your taskbar (near the Windows clock), click it. Then click F6 Firmware, click Upgrade Bootblock. Wait for your V2 to reboot and go into deadpoll mode. Now click Upgrade Firmware and wait for your V2 to reboot. All done, now start tuning.

Once the website has the downloads back up and active I will download and install V8 first. Thank you... Hopefully I will be able to overcome the fact that computers are starting to become smarter than me.

...

V2 firmware version 2.04.05
V2 boot block version 2.06.02

...That is bad (mismatched versions)...

Read the attached very carefully.

Goto the www.efilive.com (http://www.efilive.com) downloads page and download install both V7 and V8.

It seems completely strange (and I would have thought impossible) for there to be mixed versions, especially with a 2.04.x version :/

What is the V2 doing when you power it? Does it boot or is is stuck in deadpoll mode?

It boots up fine. I just can't program my ecm. I can check and clear codes, but can reprogram.

Depressingly, Paul made it possible to get there and it takes a few very specific versions of the firmware and boot block to recover.

If there is a way to get the Firmware programmer to recognize efw files again I know how to recover from that. Or I can send you a really old version of 7.5 so you can get a Firmware Programmer that will work.

I just found the 2 old versions of 7.5 and 8 on my desktop external. I was just now able to update my firmware. I am going to try and change the tune in my truck momentarily...

Install V7 build 170 and V8 build 160, then update V2 bootblock to 2.07.02 and firmware to 2.07.14.
