View Full Version : Can no loner find PID's

A couple of weeks ago I upgraded to the 8.0 version so I could use the block box logging. It seemed like everything worked fine, and I was able to create some log files, but many of the PID's are missing when I play it back. I even pulled up some old log files that I know recorded the PID's and they are missing now as well. I cannot find these PID's anywhere in the scan tool. Where did they go? An example would be Knock Retard. I am unable to add it to my dash since it's not in any list... I'm probably missing something simple but I cant figure it out.

In V7 scantool: go File->Enter VIN and enter your VIN, then go File->Select Controller and select your ECM, then connect, then validate pids.

In V8 S&T: did you program these into V2...? does V2 log theses...?

Nothing changed, I programmed the V2 with the above screen shot PID's. Even old log files that used to have additional PID's no longer shows them on the dashboard, nor are they available in the ID list.
I'm using E38 as my ECM is that correct? 2007 Corvette

I'm not sure if the V2 is recording the missing PID's, but I know it shows them while it is recording, so it is monitoring them

Please upgrade to the latest versions here:
http://www.efilive.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=48&Itemid=133

One of the fixes in the latest release was to fix the PIDs disappearing issue.
You may need to manually add the PIDs back to the charts, but the PIDs won't have disappeared from your logs.

Paul

You should make sure you have selected the appropriate controller from the File->Select Controller menu.
Plus you need to also enter a VIN from a vehicle that has been previously validated.
or
Connect to a vehicle and validate the PIDs while connected to the vehicle.

Ive done the connect and validate, along with vin number, I removed the .vpl file before validating and then verified a new one was created.
error during connection: ............firmware is not compatible with installed EFILive software. ...........

the parameter for the 2002 C5 are still not complete.

thanks for your attention to this problem,

Dave, start by updating to the latest software found HERE (http://www.efilive.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=48&Itemid=133). Remember you need both V7.5 and V8, update the firmware on your V2 after you get the new software installed. Do not use the automatic update function for this, it has been causing weird issues lately.

That error means you there is a discrepancy between the software on your PC and what firmware you have on your V2.

id rather jump off a cliff.Huh...!?! If it's that bad, then pm me your phone number.

Install V7 and V8 from where ScarabEpic22/Erik said...

connect your V2 to your PC, then start EFILive Explorer, goto the Firmware tab, first program in the bootblock, then program in the firmware.

reinstalled 7.5 from the old CD, and we are good to go.

How old of a CD? What software version are you running now? I would try to update to the latest stuff again, not sure exactly whats going on but there are new things added to V8 (which I dont believe you can actually get on a CD yet) that can really affect your FlashScan V2. Especially when using the standalone features.

CD version 7.5.72 , splash screen says 2009
I noticed that the controller in the earlier version is called Gen III LS1 99-08, and is changed to LS1B, perhaps the error comes from naming.

Ok, which V7/V8 build versions did you have installed when the problem was present...?

Did you flash bootblock 2.07.02 and firmware 2.07.14 into your V2...?

Not sure if i am off track here but, my main pc i use for learning (not the programming of pcm's) has latest software and the check for updates was performed, all the pid's seem to be undefined. The location of folders has changed as well.

Was a confirmed solution found? I am having this problem and was frustrated at the update process when I did it so I would rather not do more than I have to to solve this problem. I am missing KR among others I'm sure. Same thing, I logged it in the past and when I play back an old log its missing now. Cant find it in the pid list, it disappeared from my A dashboard and is shown with a line through it in my B dashboard. I updated about two weeks ago, updated my firmware in my V2 (but perhaps not at exactly the same time?)

How do I check what version I have of each installed and is there a known fix for this problem.

AHHHH that's not what I want to hear!

I don't have a list from before but I have been reading about logging various transmission functions and I can't find any of them. I guess I will have to start a ticket and see if they can help me sort this out.

Ok, i'll give it a shot, I'll do it on both pc's and my firmware at the same time and hope they all start to work together. 180 is an update for me so hopefully it will all jive once it they are all up to speed with each other and post back if they work. Thank you!

Thank you Joe, so far so good. Sounds like the auto updater is acting up, said no update available. Did it manually as you and Blacky said to and all good now.

I have log file that contains inj pulse width. I know this because I opened the file on a computer I have not used in 3-4 years, that I dont even know what version of v7 it even has on it. When I open the file on a desktop that has the latest updated version
(7.5.7 180)I cant see the data because I cant see the pid. Does this mean I have to connect the desktop to the car to validate the pids in this log file?
