View Full Version : Problem Downloading a Stock Tune

I just tried to download a stock tune from a 04 LB7 and it locks up at reading 12k of 512k. It did this 3 or 4 times in a row. The last time I tried it, it got to 40k and locked up. The software and cable works on my 02 with no problems. It seems to be related to something in the truck rebooting. A chime is heard and the dash resets itself and then the software stops downloading. Has anyone experienced this and what is the fix?

A few aftermarket audio devices have lately been the source of some issues. Do you have a XM radio adaptor or anything like that?

Cheers,

Download the latest software from www.efilive.com (http://www.efilive.com/)

Try a different usb port on your laptop.

Are you sure it is an LB7 and not an LLY? If it is you definately need the latest software.

Does the truck have any kind of aftermarket radio accessories such as xm, or any type of soundgate, Pie or any other kind of adapter? If so you might need to pull the radio fuse.

I have the latest version of the software 7.3.1. It wouldn't even try to download if I called it a LLY but I am sure it is a LB7. I thought I turned everything off, HVAC, radio, radar detector, lights, etc. It does have an aftermarket Alpine DVD headunit in it but I did turn it off. It is almost like the PCM is rebooting in the middle of the download.

If the dvd player integrates with the factory stereo you will need to pull the radio fuse. Shutting it off won't be enough.

I will try that thanks. The weird thing is that I have a Pioneer AVIC-N2 in my truck and it doesn't cause any problems.

But you have an 02 correct? They are completely different electrical systems.

Yes I do. I just find it strange how GM does things.

12k of 512k is definitley an LB7.
LLY would display 12k of 1024k.

Sounds to me like there is some sort of traffic on the bus. If there are no aftermarket alarms/stereos on the truck......make sure that all the accessories are turned off. Radio/heater/close all the doors during a reflash.

If it does have an aftermarket stereo then you will need to pull the radio fuse. Many of the adapters that are sold today to integrate aftermarket electronics into 2003 and later trucks seem to create communication problems.

Additionally, try turning the key on and waiting 30 seconds before attempting a download. This will give all the systems a chance to check in with each other before EFILive goes in and starts to communicate with the ECM.

Hope this helps.
