Anyone got a canned tune for this replacement motor? Intake will be the stock LS3 2010 camaro with injectors.
If not, would a canned 6.2 LS3 tune work?

This is a metal block with forged internals so there may be some minor differences. Also pretty sure the cam is different.

Hello Patrick,

Given that you will be reusing your current air intake system, MAF, MAP, intake manifold, and injectors - your existing L92 tune should be a good starting point. Also, you have put a great deal of time, effort, and money into getting your ECM and TCM to work together - no sense in "reinventing the wheel".

With the LSX376 .... in the "DTC Type" folder set P0010, P0011, and P0016 to "Not Reported" - these are VVT related (a feature which you will no longer have). The only other immediate difference will be the main VVE table (B8101) and the accompanying coefficients - which your tuner would have adjusted during the dyno tune process - but the LSX376 should still run on this VVE table (perhaps not extremely well though !).

Wouldn't the LS9 be a better starting point for you? The link you gave is a low compression crate ready for boost. That's what the LS9 is.

There is a 2009 ZR1 oem tune @ Holden Crazy.

One of the great things about this Forum, is the more suggestions / information we provide to each other, the better our projects become.

The original configuration was NA (naturally aspirated) - and that was my assumption for the LSX376 (at least initially). The LSX376 is described as “blower-friendly” in the GMPP catalogue – with its 9.0:1 compressions ratio – although that does not necessary make it a “low compression crate” engine. In a NA application this means it would run on 87 octane “regular” gasoline without any issues – which could save a few dollars at the pumps (not that this really matters to car guys).

Unless you have read through, or originally followed along with Patrick’s threads, you may not be aware of his project’s current “hard parts” setup. The vehicle uses an E38 ECM (L92) and a T42 TCM (A4) - and compatible wiring harness. The original overriding factor in the conversion was running a VVT camshaft in the 6.2 L (L92) engine.

The original ECM / TCM pairing ran a 2007 OS – and never really worked right. The second ECM / TCM pairing (nothing worse than having to buy duplicate parts in a project) ran a 2008 OS with an ECM segment swap to facilitate the A6 compatible only L92 tune, communicating with the A4 (4L70).

To your suggestion … while the LS9 and LSA tunes are nothing short of fantastic OEM forced induction control – these used E67 ECMs. Switching to an E67 ECM would necessitate a rework of the existing E38 wiring harness, or more likely the purchase of another wiring harness.

Also, the LS9 / LSA OS are intended to be used with A6 (6L90) or manual transmissions. Neither is directly compatible with the A4.

Like Taz says Pat, use the tune that you all ran up on the dyno. It'll be fine. Maybe add a little more timing. VVT should really be disabled. If you have your current tune drop it up and will see what I can do on the VVT disable for you. :)
