Does anyone have any displacement on demand lifters that they would be willing to sell?

Swingtan. Yes I'm in the US. Do you have any for sale? Obviously I could buy brand new, but I figure someone has some they've replaced with regular/performance lifters that they will otherwise be scrapping that I could buy...

LS327,

Why do DOD lifters go boom??

There have been reports on various forums of DOD lifters failing after installing a performance cam.

That would be correct. DOD lifters require a different lift and ramp profile to take up tolerances in the de-activation pin. I'm guessing most performance cam companies either aren't aware of the profile requirements or perhaps lift requirements.

Additionally there may be some different plunger/valving requirements.

** plunger/valving requirements for more than nominal lift increases.

They could also be breaking the locking pins with over design load spring pressures.

No, they break regardless of whether the cam is aftermarket or stock. They just plain suck. We replace them very regularly.

Hmm that's new information. I'll have to look into that.

It's really no secret, there are multiple TSB's out there on them, and they have had multiple part number changes. The worst part is we've had as many or more issues with the updated ones than the origionals.

What issues do you have with the new ones? I thought the Eaton ones are the old bad ones that woud fail and tick, but are you saying the new Delphi ones are worse?
