I have a 2002 chevy 1500 with a 5.3 with a baby cam from comp actually the smallest one above stock. the motor otherwise is pretty stock. I cant seem to get lt fuel trims in check. no matter what i add the dont seem to change. Im very new to this some any dumb down answer will help:hihi: I tried the autove tutorial i cant seem to get it to work even though i follow step by step cant seem to understan it. so i have a datalog file please take a look and tell me what you see thanks in advance.

Hi goldenhp, can you also post your tune file.

Also make sure you are following the calc vet tutorial posted at the bottom of the original post of " A new twist.." thread on the stickies at the top of this forum. I tried following the outdated one in the software pdf tutorials and got all kinds of mixed up. Once I was working off the right tutorial it worked mucho better.

I dont have a wideband 02 hooked up to the v2 so could the cal vet still work.

you can still use the ltftbens to get your part throttle map portion tuned. take a look at b3601 and update it if needed. looks like you still have all your tm in the tune..

what part number is your comp cam/ or specs

goldenhp
September 6th, 2011, 03:17 AM
comp 54-408-11
What is tm short for? prolly a simple question jus making sure.

cool beans i have the same cam, i'm lovin it its got some great torque to it and i swear i'm getting better mileage:cucumber:

hey gregs, I was jus going over your sig and i believe its the same came you got. But without the intake ,exhuast or lift either. Do you have more done to your truck? If not we basically have the same setup.
Did you have to tune it at all. if so what did you have to change?

tm=torque management, check out b1901,D0801,D0802, d0803 for starters.

did you have to mess with any fueling the trims on this this at idle are +25 all the time while driving the slowly climb back up. In torque mangement what were you change and why. sorry for the drill session i use to be a ford guy totally different tuning tools

no thats about it. just minor other stuff, throttle body polished/knife edged, throttle body coolant bypass. the exhaust setup on mine is VERY open. only other siderance would be that i have an electronic throttle body (DBW) and you should have a cable throttle body (DBC)

yeah my ve table is extensively modified, its nothing like what factory was. if i were you i would just go through section by section of the tune and modify anything thats hindering performance

yep its cable motor and everything pretty much stock save for cam

thats the thing on this software not sure were to begin. Can I look at your file to see what you have done. I know mine wont be the same due to throttle bodie work.
how do you go about using ltftbens for part throttle tuning?

...
how do you go about using ltftbens for part throttle tuning?Use the Calc.VET tutorial, but in the filter also exclude data when CALC.CL is zero;

[ when CALC.CL is 1, the LTFT's are active/valid; when CALC.CL is 0, the commanded EQ has moved away from stoich and LTFT's cannot be used. ]

No problem, I had the same problem. It doesnt know what size your cylinder is to calculate the % value. I believe you go to edit>log file information and then find where you can select the engine you are working with. Save. Close the scan tool. Open the scan tool. You should be able to see real numbers now in your log.

The best way to do this I found was to switch units over to metric value instead of % of cylinder for both your ve table and your log. g8K/Kpa I believe is the value instead of % of cylinder. This is independent of cylinder size so it is easier to work with.

Once you save close open you should have it working all the time until you change engine sizes you are working on.

still zeroes? Please look at the info screen and see that it "took" your engine selection. Changing units over is the best way to avoid this hassle. I believe Joecar told me how in a thread called something like "Pcm in dead poll cos5 upgrade". let me know what you come up with. Need to have the log open in the scan tool, select the engine, save the log, close the tool reopen the log in the scan tool, and it "should" work.

it took the engine dis. but it still shows zero when i try to see what average cells are, before a clivk on thattab I have a bunch of numbers but nothinn i can use.

What tab? Are the numbers that you can't use the cell counts?

Do yourself the favor of switching units from % to G*K/kPa in your logging and your tune tool VE table, it will eliminate all of these zero value headaches and make your ve table work easier. I did and am not going back. Look up that thread I mentioned and see if that helps.

i dont like dealing with percentage im more used to kpa anyways so the are that way but the cells under vet table when changed to average goes to zero

Good if you have them set to kpa and are used to it, will make life easier. Your scan tool/log might be set up for % though from the sounds of it, at least that was the problem I ran into when I had this problem myself. Perhaps try to make a quick log idling to test it out again, not sure what else to suggest. Make sure the map is displaying ve g*K/Kpa and that your pids are all valid. Perhaps post your log file for others to view.

Your DYNAIRTMP pid is invalid, and so it is always zero, causing the CALC.VET calculation to be zero always... you need a different way of figuring DAT, see the 1998 section of the Calc.VET Tutorial.

Post a screenshot.

Also, you have to reduce the pid channel count to 24 or less (otherwise your data is not sampled frequently enough), you can drop the pid MAFFREQ2.

how do you do a screenshot?

johnmaster

You should have a print screen key on your key board, mine is right next to f12. Hit the print screen button, nothing will happen. Open programs>accessories>paint. Do a Ctrl+V to paste the saved image into the paint program. Save the file and put it up here for us to see. To validate a pid that isn't working, right click it and check out info, it will usually tell you what other pid needs to be active in order to get it to work.

On the pids list the channel count is at the bottom of the screen.

You may want to check the steps that pertain to turning DFCO (Deceleration fuel cut off) off. Either way you want to warm the motor up to operating temp since you are only going to be using that data anyhow.

Do you have a wideband hooked up? It looks stuck or not working. Ign timing is all over the place. At 15% throttle I thought I saw 9 degrees. Also lean most of the time. Also started the log with 145 f Iat. Disable the cat protection. What are the cam specs?

You may be able to obtain an LM-2 serial cable from TAQuickness: TAQCables-Status (http://forum.efilive.com/showthread.php?14954-TAQCables-Status&highlight=)
