has anyone used a gen 3 ecm on a gen 1 motor i have a 582 big block going in a 2005 looking for a way to get the 24 x crank and the half on and off cam sensor i am looking for idieas on how to make it work

I haven't done it, but I've thought about it:

crank signal:
reluctor wheel on crank pulley and sensor mounted to timing chain cover.

cam signal:
180 degrees worth of slot in cam sprocket and sensor mounted in hole in timing cover looking right onto sproket;
or machine a slot (180 degrees worth) in cam's distributor/pump drive gear and mount sensor thru distributor hole looking down at slot (you're now using Gen III coil packs, right).

yes was going to use gen 3 coil packs pretty much same thing i was going to do i was hoping some one made a aftermarket crank trigger 24 x wish the ls 2 stuff was out i think i could use a tec-3 crank trigger then from electromotive
