View Full Version : TMAP sensor on E-force supercharger and COS 5

Hi

I am installing an E-Force supercharger on my LS3 engine. The engine is running
on COS 5 (156). I wonder if I can use the IAT signal from the TMAP sensor that is in the supercharger housing.
Does the IAT signal need to be scaled in the tun? And is it possible to adjust the settings on this os?

I have scaled the MAP sensor: Linear 223.43 kPa and Offset -7.88 kPa.
But I am not sure what to do with the IAT. I feel that the best thing would be to use the tmap sensor because it is placed after the intercooler in the manifold.
I can use the IAT sensor in the MAF but what is the best solution?

If you are using the wiring harness that comes with the E-Force system it uses the IAT that is in the TMAP. Edelbrock has used 2 different sensors in the past 1 is a Ford part and the other is a Bosch, each one has a different transfer function for both the IAT and the MAP functions. The Ford TMAP has 2 bolts and the Bosch has 1.

The Ford TMAP Parameters are:

MAP Sensor Linear use 223.43
MAP Sensor Offset use -7.88

IAT Sensor Cal (make sure the labels match as well)

Sometimes you need to do the IAT Sensor Cal2 use these values as well if just changing the IAT Sensor Cal doesn't work...

The Bosch TMAP Parameters are:

MAP Sensor Linear 268.90 kPa
MAP Sensor Offset -1.65 kPa

The stock IAT values should be fairly close, if they are not you can use the values below.

If you have a 2005 LS2 it will limit the Linear to 255.9 and the offset can’t be set below 0 so just use those values and it will be fairly close.

Thanks for a very informative answer.
I think you saved me for a lot of trouble. I was using the values from the Ford sensor in my tun.
After yours information, that there is two different sensors for the E-Force I had to take a closer look. On my supercharger there is a Bosch sensor with one bolt holding it in place.
I have changed the map values to your settings.
MAP Sensor Linear 268.90 kPa
MAP Sensor Offset -1.65 kPa

Unfortunately, am I using a 2002 os converted to cos 5. This os do not have a scaler for the IAT values as I know of.

When you say that this Bosch sensor has values close to stock?
Do you men close to the sensor used on the new corvettes and 2010 Camaros?
And does this sensor have the same values that the old F-body and Corvette (2002) sensors?

My plan is to use the MAF sensor from 2010 Camaro. When I use MAF, is it best to use the IAT sensor in the MAF housing, or to use the TMAP sensor in the compressor housing.
I need to tune the MAF anyway but what is the most stable solution?

Yeah, it would be close to stock on the 2005+ Corvettes and 2010+ Camaros. I pulled up a 2002 Corvette and it looks like it has the sensor setup a bit differently so I'm not sure if it would work or not. You could plug in the stock MAF and see what the temp. reads and then do the same with the TMAP and see what the difference is.

Using the 2010 Camaro MAF will be fine, however I would not recommend using the IAT in the MAF unless you absolutely have to, because the IAT in the MAF will not be reading the temperature of the compressed air like the TMAP does.

All the time I have done auto ve calc vet or auto maf I have experience that a change in IAT has changed the ve or MAF readings.
I know we have the blending table for IAT and ECT and a fault here may be the problem. But I have never tried to change this.
Because of this experience I feel that it would be better to use the temperature sensor that is after the compressor and closest to the engine. I Might need to change the blending table a bit but I think this would give the best readings.
On the other hand I think that if the MAF are used to calculate AFR then the measured temperature on the air passing the MAF is needed for a correct calculation of the air mass. The temperature after the compressor is also influenced by the adiabatic possesses (raise in temperature because of the increase in pressure) that give more density not less. I am still a bit confused of what sensor to use.
