Well, with cruise control locked at 74 (in a 70 MPH zone) and EFILive chugging bytes, and even though it was only 40 degrees out, I decided to test the new MPG PID, on something that has interested me for 20 years or so.
Windows down, Camaro was getting an average of 23 MPG.
Windows up, about 25 MPG.
Now I didn't turn the air (crazy, yes, insane, no), but will look into this next time it's over 50F or so... and over 60, the T-Tops come out!
Just a FYI.
Thanks all!

74 MPH at 40 degrees F, windchill brings that to 10 degrees, you're a brave soul, all in the name of science.

Cool to know. Also, just an FYI, you don't have to turn on the AC, you can just turn on the defroster, it will turn on the AC compressor to cool the air to remove the condensation, before the heater heats it to blow on the windshield.
Same thing as running the AC, but not as cold.

It will only turn on the compressor if the Evap sensor is over 32 degrees f, and in the winter it won't stay on very long, if it happens to be above that temp. Here in the midwest today we are at a balmy 27 degrees f, so the compressor will never turn on.

i've had an opportunity to test this against topping of the tank mile/gallons. was accurate within 0.1 mpg. Thanks for digging this back up emarkay

TA, what are you using for a map to get average MPG over the corse of a tank of fuel?
Thanks, Kyle

just take the average mpg (as appears on the data tab) from each log and at the end of the tank, average my averages. At the moment, I log everything, from crank to shut down.

For some reason, my data page dosen't show the MPG even though i log it and it shows on the dash. Any ideas there?

Anyone have any thoughts on why I don't display MPG on the data page in the scanner, even though I'm loging it?

On my first full tank test on my Firehawk, I got close to 25mpg on a 200mi drive, going 80 where it was allowed and around 60 otherwise ... should be able to get that down a bit more... wonder how much efilive get improve that?
