View Full Version : Spark falling to negative and amost dieing at idle

I've been having an issue with my truck almost wanting to die every time I stop. I though it was to low on required air flow and was messing with it, but I'd get it to where it was better, then it would "cruise control" all the time driving it around cuz air flow was set too high.

So today I did some logging and I found out it is dropping the spark down very low every time it would come to an idle especial in gear. RPM would drop to 2-300 then spark would jump back up to 14-20 and dance like it's supposed to at idle. I noticed that every time it would do it's near dieing/dieing thing, it would be cuz the spark is like 0 to -5 or really low, then it would bounce back up and all is fine. I logged all the spark pids and can't find anything pulling timing and all the base spark number are set around 25* so I'm stumped...

Any one have any idea what's dropping my timing so much??? Seems the worst when it goes from rolling idle to complete stop. Here is my current tune and log to show what its doing...

Try this and see if any timing is pulled now.12037

Still doing it... I had to update to the latest version of the software to open that tune and i don't know what the deal is, but I don't have any where near the pids I had... Can't find GM.AFR or any of the pids I need to log calculated air flow since I run SD ad no MAF...

Not sure whats happening with your pid selection, i have checked here and can select them. Flash this in and select DYNCYLAIR_DMA on the next log as well.12039

I don't have that pid listed any more... Something is wrong with my last update to build 180.

I'll try that tune though.

Fixed the missing pid problem. Turned out there is a problem with the auto update loosing a lot of pids... I did a fresh, full down load and full install over the existing software and got all my pids back. Haven't tried the tune yet, but I'll try later today and report back. :)

KB,

Thanks for posting back.

Yes, the updater has a problem, so the recommended thing is to do a manual install as you did, sorry you fell into this hole.

This tune seamed to fix it. :) I didn't drive it much, but with revving in the shop and driving it a few miles doesn't seem to be surging or wanting to die when I stop. I need to do a little auto VE logging to clean up the A/F a bit since I just switched back to my BW S480 turbo, but it seem to be running well! I think I can drop my required Idle air flow a bit too now. I'll mess with it a bit more, but for now seems to be working MUCH better! :D
