View Full Version : Adaptive Tunes?

I've noticed that right after I reflash the truck it feels pretty potent but after a while it seems to become 'tame' and doesn't feel like it puts out the power it does right after tuning? I wonder if I need to switch OS' again...

hmm...can you log and verify this? Sounds interesting... gotta love the cmb ecm :-)

I'm just about to reflash the truck, I'll log a quick drive and log another one this weekend and see if something has changed.

As far as I know...the CMB ECM is not adaptive capable.

Changing weather of fuel is more likely, or you are just becomming used to the feeling quicker. A log of fueling and timing from just after a flash and a few miles later will confirm.

May have switched to #1 fuel there depending on climate.

I've heard that the SRT4 ECM has some adaptive tuning features. Could be a poor source of info. Anybody else heard this?

Ahh les I was bein sarcastic. But yes u and Adam have a good point with the fuel quality. I know I can tell the difference between certain fuel stops around me. Not necessarily with HP but with MPG's and fuel system cleanliness.

Lol...oh well. At least it's out there now!!

Yeah I lose 2mpg all winter long here in northern Ky when they switch to #1 diesel. Stuff sucks. But! Maybe we can compensate slightly for it by adding a couple of degrees of timing on a "winter tune". Just thinking out loud.

A suggestion: look at intake air temp as the observation progresses.

All good suggestions, and I will be sure to keep an eye on ambient temps and where I fuel up but what makes me scratch my head is let's say I load up my previous OS (the one that had issues and caused an internal ECM failure code) that is loaded with the APPS sensitivity change (or mm3 multiplier or whatever... from a certain box tuner). One morning the truck will feel nice and peppy, the next morning (same ambient temps and all) the truck will feel like I loaded a lower power tune.

So far with the new tune on the new OS/calibration file seems to not have this issue. I guess it could be a problem with that particular OS on my truck? I will still keep watching this new one.

As far as fuel quality goes...there's a huge difference in the B100 I've been burning all summer and pump diesel. If someone had a way to keep B100 from gelling I'd run it the year round!

The new tune did not change so I think there's an underlying issue with my previous OS file(s). I won't go back to it since I've started tuning with the updated OS and calibration.

If someone had a way to keep B100 from gelling I'd run it the year round!Yeah I'd say it's a huge difference. B100 has much less power. That's another reason that B5-B20 are better choices. They have the added lubricity, but don't take nearly the power hit that B100 does.
