A couple of days ago EFILive released it's first 6.7L tuning beta. Up until this point testers had been testing the Scan Tool functions on the 6.7L, submitting stock file reads for us to start mapping, but not flashing.

The beta for the 6.7L tuning has had some significant changes made to the architecture of the V7 & V8 software to accommodate for a more flexible means of handling different ECM structures as well as a new file type (.ctz) for storing tune files. These changes will impact on all users of our software when publicly available, not just 6.7L Cummins, so we will need to perform some very thorough testing over the coming weeks for all the controllers we support to ensure older files are still usable in the current software.

The goal set for this first beta was to see that the 6.7L ECM flashes ok, recovers from an interrupted flash and doesn't cause any negative affects once the flash is complete. That side of things has gone very well and all tests pass. Flash times are typically just over 4 minutes.
The 6.7L maps provided to the beta testers were enough for them to make changes to the major tuning tables (eg, Timing, Rail Pressure, VGT etc). Again, things have gone well here too with them able to make changes and see results.
From this point on we will continue to add further functions for beta testing so when we release we have enough tuning tables in there for people to make some significant gains on what is out there at the moment. The beta testers are of the understanding that our first lot of tables probably wasn't going to break any dyno records, we didn't expect this either as that was not the intention of our first round of beta testing. We have seen one truck get as high as 3,800RPM, we will continue to work with the beta testers to get as high in RPM and fuelling abilities as we can on the 5.9L now.

We know people will want release dates, currently Paul (head software developer) is on vacation, Ross leaves the office for 7 weeks at the end of the month, so we are really going to be pushing it to release anything before the SEMA / PRI shows. Thankfully with everything going smoothly in the first round of beta testing we might be able to get a public release out before the SEMA / PRI shows start (but no promises).

We are looking forward to what unfolds in the coming months as the 6.7L tuning develops (along side the 5.9L of course), all those long standing myths and expert opinions on what the 5.9L ECM was capable of were busted in the first 3 months of our 5.9L public release (fully fuelled to 5,300RPM is one example) , 6.7L owners, your world is about to change too.

Cheers,
Ross

We still have one final beta release to go. Hopefully that will be made available to the beta testers this week.
If that version tests ok then it should be available publicly as a pre-release version before Christmas. If we can't get it out before Christmas, then we'll be aiming for before New Year.

Paul

Will the CSP switches for the 5.9L or the 6.7L be coming out shortly after this release?

So all the bugs have been fixed? The DPF/EGR/VGT delete tables have been taken care of? No more Regen?

No those options are not available as of yet. The bugs are primarily worked out of the current release. The additional off road deletes will be available at a slightly later date. The current release is sweet, however.
