I know this has been discussed some and you are waiting on US to send you reads, and I will! But I am getting quite excited about the Sonic 1.4t. I have started a local car club to unite area Cruze and Sonic drivers and point them in the direction of our businesses (my dealer, EFILive, TSTune.com, etc...) I am hoping and thinking that the ECM will be the E78 as we are speculating, like on the identical engine sibling. I also hope (a lot) the eventually that T76 TCM will be supported, as it is already being tuned by others and they are reporting excellent improvements. So I wish to encourage you and remind you to support the Sonic (especially turbo) as much and as soon as possible :) !

Your dealer does not have a turbo 1.4 yet? Is GM selling any of these or what?

Oh and supposedly for the guys that pre-ordered, production of turbo Sonic is delayed 6-8 months?? What kind of crap is that GM? Why don'y you dry hump your LML ECM, jerks :)

6-8 months, wow, that 'is' a delay, I wonder what has gone wrong?

Nothing that a little AC line relocation and a Rotrex C30-74 supercharger can't resolve..

Is this an E78 or something else? I get a message saying something E83 cant be found. Such a thingy?

Hello Ian,

It is an E83 ... I was able to open the *.ctd with V8 ... got a similar message when I tried using V7.5 ... don't think the V7.5 support has rolled out yet.

I have no current plans to work with these (engines are missing 4 cylinders !) ... just more of a gray matter exercise.

Cheers,
Taz

It was read with V8. I have downloaded a special version for us E83 experimenters. I probably should have sent the file to Ross. They are working on possible support. The E83 runs the Aveo 1.6 (newer ones) and Cruze / Sonic 1.8 non-tuebo, and who knows what else in the future.

Sonic tuning - when? If it is an E78, all you need is a couple turbo reads to make it happen, right? We NEED this :)

THANKS !!!

Just thought I'd throw my interest behind Sonic 1.4T tuning :) I'm not a current EFILive customer, but I would be if this came around. Paying 450+ for some canned tune just isn't going to happen.

I own a competitors product at the moment, and I see no light at the end of the tunnel.

Just a reminder guys, we can already tune the 1.4T (E78) in the Cruze...Id be willing to bet money on GM using the same ECM for the same engine in similar platforms.

My understanding is it IS an E78, but it can't be tuned yet? Please pardon my ignorance being new to EFILive.

If I can tune my car right now, I'll order today.... no joke.

I am desperately waiting for confirmation. It is an E78 and it is supported by EFILive for sure, however we CAN NOT tune them until the newer operating systems they come with become supported. They need lots of reads.

i sent a read of an e78 to support@efilive from a 2011 holden cruze 1.4T

I can see a majority of tables, but no VVE stuff at all.

Haven't seen that yet, but I do have one or two anyway.
No VVE because the VVE calculation changed on these new generation of ECM's, when the demand for MAF-Less tuning is high enough on these ECM's we'll bump it up the list.

anyone got any idea what the commanded power tables do or affect? in the tune i have it has 3 tables. Mode A,B,C and a limp mode.

there is very little difference between the tables, except for limp mode obviously.

They pretty much control everything!! It's almost like the pedal response in the old LS1.
I've played around a bit with those on my LFW and the issue is you tend to make the engine very responsive for little pedal input, which makes the car feel really good, but guess what, above 25% there is nothing more, it's already at full load. So really all you end up doing is having 0 - 25% usable pedal, it's a very strange feeling.
The different modes will be like, normal, sports etc.

Could we have a DMA PID for which throttle map the ECM is using on the E39 :)

Mmmm, maybe at some point. But just assume the first is normal, the second is 'sport' mode.
