Hi I have a vs s3 v8 auto commodore and am having problems with getting efilive to communicate with the ecu.

I have made the max232 and the two transister circuits and they both have the same problem. ie.

I plug the connections into the aldl socket,
then connect the aldl cable to max232 device,
then connect the serial cable to max232 device,
then start efilive v4,
then connect serial cable to laptop,
then select gmhvrvsv8 config
then turn the ignition on

I then try chatter and it dosnt detect any, I dont think it is meant to???
I then click the record button and all i get is an echo of the sent
data back from the max232 device.
I dont seem to get any other data.

Am I meant to start the car? or is it meant to send data while ignition is on??

Any help is appriciated...

Jamie

The VSIII pcm is a hybrid unit, mostly compatible with the VT system, not sure which settings you need to communicate with it
GMPX may be able to elaborate

If it's a SeriesIII V8 there is no chatter, it's basically a VT PCM with VS data bus.
You should get a response to the Mode $01 Table $01 message though.
Try $F1, $F4 or $F5 as the module I.D, I think $F5 is the one you need, I can't recall, been a LONG time since I looked at ALDL data streams.

Cheers,
