Just had a request from an overseas customer to limit speed based on DSP position. How hard would it be to add this to the LBZ and LMM (at least in a DSP2 OS)? There is a new law that limits vehicles speed to 89kph in newer vehicles in his country.

89kph?! Wow, thats slow! Is it even safe? 55mph, you cant get out of your own way on a highway if something happens.

I understand the request though, hopefully you can figure something out!

I don't think Ross will be revisiting that anytime soon, have your customer use the Cruise Control or learn self restraint to keep his speeds down.

The original DSP2/LB7 & LLY tunes had the speed limit option and I don't think anyone ever used them so I am sure when we beta tested them 5 years ago a decision was made to ditch it in the DSP5 calibrations.

Just my opinion on it.

Maybe Ross will consider it, but I thought he stated that he wasn't revisiting the DSP5/OS's anytime soon.

Yeah sorry Bobo, whilst it's probably not that big of a deal to add just one simple calibration to the DSP OS's, it means we have to do a lot of work to ensure the change isn't going to make the old versions incompatible. Changes like that across all OS's, with testing etc is in reality about 4 - 5 days work. I know it sounds crazy, but there is a lot of double checking and confirmations that need to be done when modifying OS's to ensure we aren't going to cause major problems somewhere.
That is why when we are finalising the Cummins switchable tuning we need to make sure everything is covered first time.

By the way, what country limits vehicles to 89 KMH? That is insane.

Cheers,
Ross
