View Full Version : ECM swap, DBW 411?

I'd like to swap the ECM in my Goat to a 411. I'd also like to keep the DBW TB to keep it somewhat simple, however, I could swap to cable, and it wouldn't bother me too much. Is this possible? Any specific 411 ECM I'm looking for?
I see there is a heck of a lot more support (COS's, and # of people using them) out there for these 411's and to me there are too many "workarounds" that have to be made in the E40 for a setup like mine.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I can understand where you're coming from but the 411 would be quite a jump backwards for you, not sure if everything will work properly since I'm not overly familiar with the E40 (IIRC the E40 is for the '04 24x LS2's before they changed to 58x, right?), but to answer your questions about the 411, it is the same PCM in regardless of vehicle as long as it has the service # 12200411, different OS and tunes are used but the PCM itself is the same...the '02 vette used DBW with the 411, so that is probably the OS and tune you'd want to start off using...but you'll want to research out if the backward swap will work correctly, I looked at E40's a little bit several years ago, and I vaguely remember something about the A/C control being different than the '02 OS's used....probably quite a few other things as well, but thats all I remember.

I think its honestly going to be a bigger PITA than you think to do a LS1B PCM swap. What are you worried about with the E40 2Bar COS, you might have to halve the IFR and VE tables but thats about it...and thats only if you need more fuel than 167.xxx in the Boost VE table.

Going to be a big headache to swap in a different PCM for an ECM/TCM, plus Im not sure if the BCM, cluster, etc will talk with the LS1B PCM.

shouldnt really be an issue as the goat is still based off a commodore and we had everything from ls1b to ls1-dbw, e40, e38 based setups.

personallyi would switch to a ls1b controller without fly by wire.

what I was planning to do, is a piggyback setup.
I'm running a th400, so the trans isn't an issue.
My quick workaround to get my car running correctly, has just been to run a 2 bar map in SD with the standard 1 bar tune. All I've had to do is play with my idle airflow and tune VE.
I just hate losing all of that resolution in my tables, and not having my numbers registering correctly when logging.
If I'm right (correct me if not) to piggyback, all I have to do, is get the ECM i'd like, build a harness to suit my engine. I'll need to send the appropriate signals to my e40 so that i can run my speedo, oil press, temp and tach in the car.
I just wanted to stick this out there and see if there was any reason i couldn't.

i really appreciate the help guys!
