View Full Version : I need help with my wide band

When I got my wide band I couldn't figure out how to get it to show AFR instead of Voltage so I played with the Calibrate AD inputs menu.
Now I figured it out and my guage reads richer than what it shows on my logs. How do I fix this? Is there a way to reset the ad input voltage?
I am using a PLX wideband if that makes a difference.

You need to connect the V2 to the OBDII port and laptop to calibrate the AD inputs.

Use some AA batteries to test/calibrate.

I tried to calibrate it and its not working. It reads 23 millivolts too low. Can I somehow modify the PID to show that much higher?

You can edit the calc pid to add 0.023V... but do you realize the difference will be less than 0.5%...?

I'd be sure of the calibration before skewing it with a calc_pid.

Is the reading off with battery or WBO2 output?
Use a DMM to make sure the battery you use is up to snuff.

mr.prick I think I saw that you did that. Could you tell me what the easiest way is to do this? There seems to be several different ways. I would not like to cut my
serial cable if I don't have to.

I used 1 AA battery to initialize 1.5v
and 3 AA batteries to calibrate 4.6v

Be sure to type in the millivolts per DMM reading.

You can do this with the efilive control panel software or through the V2's menu.
The V2 will need to be connected to the OBDII port.

Well I just did the serial comm modification. I get a lot of spikes, some freezing, and drifting. Has
anyone figured out how to fix this yet? Please look at my log to see if my readings look correct. I know its lean,
but want to make sure my WB is reading correctly before I make changes.

OK. Now when I turn it on it reads correctly for a few seconds then goes to 10 AFR and stays there or it freezes. Help please!

Which wideband do you have...?

Which V2 firmware version do you have...?

When the serial AFR goes to 10/freezes, what does the analog AFR do, and what is the vehicle doing...?

I have the PLX SM-AFR GEN II. I already added a serial comm connection to it because the AD inputs were not accurate.

I just did a search on the firmware and couldn't find were to check it but I did update it to 2.07.22

I don't have a guage on the analog output. The truck doesn't react at all, just runs like normal.

Now I'll go try it again maybe the new firmware will help.

OK. It's not the firmware.
If you look at the link in post 7, you will see that the ground and TX are taken from the TX plug.
The gauge plugs into the TX socket. My gauge is in for warranty because it didn't work.
Could the module be sensing for the presence of the gauge and stops transmitting when its
not plugged in? I checked the analog outs with my DVM and the voltage hovers 2-2.5 which is near stoich.
