I just bought an 04 Z06 Saturday and call me crazy, but it feels like something holds it back in the first 2 gears. I downloaded the 2 LS6 tunes in the repository, but I didn't see anything in there that indicated this to be the case. B6611, max torque by gear, located in the traction control area, appears to be the table that would do just that but the repository tunes indicate that this table isn't utilized. Is there anywhere else to look? This is also my first ETC vehicle.

I believe what's happening is that GM has employed a gradual opening of the throttle somehow to tame the car and make it easier to drive and not kill yourself. Up here at 6000' the lack of response is really annoying. I haven't bought the license to tune with yet, so I' still just speculating by studying the stock tunes from the repository. Is there any way to change the throttle response of the ETC as it seems to feel gear specific?

When you have the FlashScan V1/V2 cable/dongle plugged into your PC/laptop, you will see extra ETC tables...

these can be used to modify electronic throttle response (but beware, if you go too far the PCM will purposefully brick itself).

By brick itself, you mean self destruct or just keep its stock values?

It will fail its internal diagnostic routines and brick itself.

Again, to brick a PCM means what? Turn it into a useless aluminum brick? I've searched and only found the term used, but not defined. If those values are maxxed out, then perhaps tip in TM is something to look into if I have it according to one the posts I found.

Yes, a useless brick. That's why its called "bricking it" lol. :) As in you have to disassemble it, remove the flash chip, bench flash the flash chip (not always possible with the latest processors), resolder it back, and hope it works. Tedious and time consuming, not for the faint of heart.

Yep, not for me that's for damn sure. Well it just so happens some fundage found its way into my paypal account today, so I'm going to see about purchasing a license now if it isn't to terribly difficult and chop away at the TM and ditch the frigging CAGS.

Well for the first time since I bought the 'Vette I took the old Crown Vic out for a quick spin and would you believe it had far snappier throttle response? I think I already know what I'll find in the ETC tables of the 'vette. . .

Have you tried starting with the nannies turned off, Traction Control and Active Handling. It could easily be related to one of them. When autocrossing or HPDE'ing a vette, these are usually turned off or you run in competition mode.

That was the first thing I tried. I'm starting to think the tables are toned down to give it a more linear feeling with a large throttle body. My boat anchor of a Crown Victoria has better throttle response than this! Admittedly though, that car has an aluminum flywheel and isn't ETC. I'm hoping to get a license after my shift tonight so I can pull the base tune and see what the ETC tables are. Will 99% values brick the PCM or is it only if you go past that? I found a video on youtube of a guy with a PCM and throttle body (Trailblazer) on a bench and when he pressed the gas on the stock tune, the throttle opened very slowly. When he showed the vid of the ETC values all at 99%, the response was instantaneous and he obviously didn't brick his PCM. . .
