Unknown VIN, manufacturer enhanced OBDII parameters won't load, WTF?

This is what I get when I try to run the scan tool so I can datalog and get my tune on. You can see my other thread for my tune tool woes. It's taken a good 4 hours to get this far! All the PIDs are X'd out. Why doesn't it recognize a Corvette VIN? I have absolutely no idea what to do here. I've searched my ass off to no avail. Leave it to me to have the weird issues or suck at search.

I'm assuming the 2 issues aren't related, but it's on the same car (04 Corvette Z06) and they're both preventing me from deviating from the stock tune.

What does the scantool say the VIN is...?

Scan tool displays the correct VIN that is displayed in the dialog box pic above.
