Are you guys still on schedule to ship the second group out yet? The date was 2-7. Just checking. Can not wait to get it in...

Due to a supplier that did not deliver product on time, manufacturing has been pushed back by 1 week.
At this stage we expect product to be available from Monday next week. However, we have no guarantee that the supplier will not delay again. It is extremely frustrating and unfortunately, out of our control.
We appreciate your patience. We are doing everything we can to minimize the delay.

The part that is delaying the process is the Orange WO2 socket that is mounted in the side of the FlashScan unit. The supplier committed (in writing) to a January delivery date, but only had 13 in stock (computer error/human error, who knows?). We are now waiting for about 900 (600 plus spares) to be shipped.

Paul

Send an email with your order number in the subject to orders@efilive.com with your new address - we'll add a comment to the order so that when it ships it will go to the correct place.

Any chance to get the scanner now, and have the little orange o2 connector when they come in?

Any chance to get the scanner now, and have the little orange o2 connector when they come in?

I wish that were the problem. We would have built them weeks ago :(

There are four orange pieces:
Two sockets that are mounted (soldered) onto the FlashScan circuit board and two plugs that plug into the sockets. The ones that are short are the sockets that are mounted on the circuit board - we have plenty of the plugs.
Murphy's law in action.

About three months ago on the beta tester's forum, I made a remark that during development, "...we had experienced every conceivable delay know to mankind..." - I was wrong - there are thousands more ways that manufacturing can be delayed :(

The FlashScan units are manufactured in two stages: the first is the suface mount components, followed by the through hole components. The first stage is scheduled to be complete today or tomorrow. The Headers on which we are waiting are due to arrive Friday - possible earlier. Once they are available the through hole manufacturing can be completed. I am led to believe that we should see the first FlashScan units here by Monday.

But after so many delays, please take those times as estimates only. I can't predict the future, I can only tell you what I know now.

I have my 2004 Pontiac GTO with 1k miles waiting for me to scan and tune her, Yet I wait for my EFILive Flashscan to ship.....

This delay is as frustrating for us as it is for everyone else.
Just to keep you informed, this is the response we have been sending out to customers who have enquired why EFILive is not shipping yet:

After committing in writing that a required part would be available in January, one of our suppliers changed their expected delivery date to Friday Feb 11. As of Saturday Feb 12, those parts have not arrived, but we expect them here by Monday 14.

Unfortunately that makes us look bad because based on our suppliers written estimate, we promised our customers that shipping would begin in the first week of Feb.
We are doing everything we can to speed up receipt of that part.
Once the part is available we will begin shipping to clear the backorder.

Just for your interest, the part on which we are waiting is the orange WO2 header socket that is fitted to the FlashScan circuit board. The supplier "thought" they held enough stock locally, but due to incorrect product inventory they only had 13 pieces. We needed 600, so they had to be ordered from the manufacturer in Germany.

The FlashScan Units have already been manfactured, they are just waiting at the manufacturing plant for that last part. Once the part is fitted to the boards they will be ready to ship.

Thank you for your patience, we apologize for the delay and any inconvenience it may have caused.

Regards

Having been involved with electronics manufacturing in the past, I can surely sympathize with you, Paul. There's so may variables, and so many parts vendors, and all it takes is 1 to hold up the works. I have to commend you for your forthrightness over the entire development and production. I'll take an honest "it's not done yet" over some B.S. spin anyday. Take your time with the Q.C., and ship 'em when they're 100% to your satisfaction.

Warning: this story has a happy ending (for once)...

You'll be glad you were not here on Monday when the manufacturer rang to say supplier just told them that the parts shipment was delayed by two weeks.
The supplier had just said they could only deliver 100 parts, the other 500 would not arrive for two more weeks.

Anyway while I was talking on the phone with the manufacturer, trying to figure out a course of action, all 600 parts were delivered.

So while the supplier was saying the parts won't be there for another two weeks the DHL van was actually enroute to deliver them - go figure!

The final through hole parts are being fitted to the boards today and we will be shipping asap.

Paul

I like happy endings!

I had something similar happen...I ordered some parts to be overnighted. The parts arrived as scheduled. The same day I got an e-mail informing me that my order had been delayed but would ship promptly. I called the company and informed them of the e-mail and that I had received the parts as promissed. Well, The next day I got more parts. So, I call the company, they give me the info I need to return the parts. I ship the parts back. 4 days later I get the same parts I returned delivered again with a letter apologizing for the delay!

All orders that went out today (Monday NZ time) via UPS should be delivered overnight. After all, UPS call the delivery: "overnight express".

However, "overnight" only means overnight to Australia and/or the US. To other places, such as UK, Europe, Sth Africa and The Middle East, it is 2-3 days.

If it was shipped via NZ Post, then it will be 4-10 days.

No, you have not paid GST twice. EFILive does not charge GST on products sent out of NZ. That's your contribution to the Australian government.

Australian Customs will charge you:
1. GST = 10% of purchase price + 10% of shipping costs.
2. Customs "Compile fee" which is AUD $49.25 if your order total (including shipping) is over AUD $250, which means all EFILive FlashScan orders. So AUD $156 is about what you would expect.

It really is a form of legalized highway robbery. NZ Customs is just as bad - we pay through the nose to import all the parts, just so we can export it again and you guys get to pay through the nose again - its just wrong!

Note, the US is free up to USD $2000.
