i have swapped a 454 vortec into my 1997 4l60e reg cab silverado
Things i swapped were 454 harness and black box from a 98 ck3500
the problem is that when i run my 97 blackbox the truck shifts fine but it missfires, its due to the 97 5.7 computer.
when i run my 98 computer it idles fine but it .feels sluggish problably due that the harness is for a 4l80e tranny.
what i find wierd is that the truck shifts fine with a 5.7 60e computer under the 454 harness???
i know i cant do a segment swap in these pcms, would it be easier just to swap my 60e for a 80e? i would really like to run a 60e.
Heres my 454 tune...

Try this one ... I don't tune Vortec PCMs so no guarantee it will work ... you will need to enter your gear ratio and tire diameter information, and then adjust the shift / TCC speeds ....

EDIT: You will also need to rewire the transmission plug from your 1998 4L80 harness, to that of a 4L60 - move one wire, and add two new wires.

Id probably just upgrade to a LS1B 0411 PCM and go from there, yes its another $200 (75-100 for PCM, 125 for VIN license) but would be worth it IMO.
Let us know how the file Taz posted works.

i cant find a diagram on what wires to change at the trans connector. i have done 4l80e conversions on lsx trucks, dont know if this is different.

You will need a good GM Service Manual (Helm Inc. sells manuals used by the OEM) for a 1998 Truck - one that covers 5.7 L and 8.1 L engines / transmissions. A good manual(s) is something that should be invested in prior to beginning a conversion, rather than after something doesn't work correctly.
Attached is a PDF that depicts the global difference in the transmission connectors (4L60 vs 4L80) - but does not include the pinouts for the Vortec PCM (don't have them - don't work with that PCM).

I second the 0411 swap, in the long run you will be money ahead!!! Fairly easy to do, and leaves plenty of room for improvement in the future!!! Also, like TAZ said, make sure you pin the transmission connector correctly, would be the same with the LSX truck from 60 to 80 swap. You can also switch them at the PCM if you want to not mes with the connector on the transmission.
Good Luck
Mike
