Finally dug out the van today again, and thought I'd try out the BB tuning...
Opened V8, converted a couple tunes.
Hooked up the V2 to the van, selected tuning, chose the tune, and...
Went through the motions.... verifying the file, erasing, ect...
But when it went to tune, it sat there for a while and quit with this error...
$0281 No data received.

So read the tune that was in the ecm, and tried to flash it back, but had the same error...
?

Hi Wolfie,

Update V7/V8 to builds 201/192 from the downloads page at www.efilive.com (http://www.efilive.com).

Then flash the newest firmware into your V2.

Then run the V8 S&T software, go into BBx, and read your current BBx config.

Then format the Config space;

Then from V8 S&T reprogram the BBx settings.

Wolfie,

sanity check: ignition key is on when this happens...?

This is an LS1B...?

But yes, the ignition key was on.
It is a LS1B

I just had to check, I have made that mistake before (while wide awake and sober not drinking).

I pm'd Tech Support.

Have you formatted the config section of the V2? Try doing that then doing the "Program All". Also, not sure if you've done it or not, but in the BBX settings you have to click the F3 Tune tab and select the LS1B controller there to read/flash the controller. Make sure you go into the V7.5 Tune tool and resave ANY *.tun or *.ctd as a *.ctz before you copy it to the V2.

Ah, yes of course, like Erik said, resave your files as .ctz (this is a new file format)(I have forgotte to do this myself).

Thanks Erik

Have done all of the above...
It even fails when trying to reflash a "read" tune back into it.
Wasn't there an issue a while back about the filename or filename lenth?

I think what we'd really need to see is the trace information (as per this guide (http://support.efilive.com/kb_article.php?ref=8254-QOGC-9586)). Email that through to me at support@efilive.com.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't see how the trace information will be available in V7 or V8 when I'm trying to flash vis bbx...
I went through the updating and formatting again just to be sure I wasn't missing anything, and all while not drinking either!
Although I wan not drinking the times before either, although there was that one time......

Note to self; update the knowledgebase article.

There is a save trace option on the device that will capture the necessary information. It's under the Scan menu section. You can then copy that off the device and send through to us.

OK, Now, now this makes no sense...
It's not Friday, so I know I have not had a drink or three...
I wen't out just a few minutes ago, and started the trace file, and tried to flash the van...
And this time it worked, so I tried it a few more times, and now it does work.
???

Stuff happens... that's why we have to be persistent.

Another... Update...
Went to change the tune again, and had the same problem...
After debating the problem for awhile, I did a "read"...., then tried to reflash it, and it worked...
So... If I try to do a reflash (as in, say, the next day), it seems though I have to do a read first, to wake something up.
Not a problem here, but maybe others might run into that as well...

Wolfie, thanks for the update.
