efi v2 question

I just ordered a v2 from cummins tuner but I am having second thoughts. Can I use it just like the autocal to put my tunes on my truck and check and clear codes without a laptop. I may try playing around some with programming but if I can't figure it out or am not comfortable with it can I just use it like the autocal. I guess what I am asking is can it just be used by itself if I decide not to do any kind of programming on my own.

Yes, you can use it in your truck without a laptop...

but somewhere you will have to connect it to a PC to download/upload tune files and log files (either by you or someone else).

Cummins tuner is emailing me my tunes for my truck. Is that what you are talking about? When I first get it.

Yes, correct, you can copy the emailed tunes to your V2 so you can flash them to your ECM (same as you would with an AutoCal).

Sounds great. Can I also check and clear codes with just the v2.

Yes, you can read and clear DTC's with V2 only (no PC/laptop attached).
