With all the changes lately do we need to reapply the Lean Cruise patch or relocate it somewhere else?

No sir ... CAX files remain in the C:\Program Files\EFILive\V7.5\Calibrations directory. Work just fine with the most recent EFILive software builds.

Thanks Taz, just checking.

You have to add these cax files to the latest version? Where to get cax files? I've read so many changes on this over the years have no idea how to implement...

The LC cax files are here: cax-file-updates (http://forum.efilive.com/showthread.php?9143-cax-file-updates)

your OS id must match one of those mentioned in that thread... there are no other cax files for other OS ids.

Is the process as simple as adding the CAX file to same folder as OS? There is a 12212156 calz file and a 12212156 cax file? Then add the new Cal_Link.txt file?

I should say, how to install these properly before I mess things up?

You copy the .cax file (matching your OS id) to the folder C:\Program Files\EFILive\V7.5\Calibrations (not deeper).

You copy the cal_link.txt file to the folder C:\Program Files\EFILive\V7.5\Configuration.

The only parameter that is missing from those .cax files is B9021, see post #12 here: need-B9021-for-01250003 (http://forum.efilive.com/showthread.php?17699-need-B9021-for-01250003)

( I'm going to have to merge B9021 into the TF+LC .cax files ).

Thanks! I deep start deeper, in folders... Can you only put the one in? Or could you just dump all the CAX files in for future?

Saved cal_link.txt as cal_link_OLD.txt and pasted in new one. OK?

The tunetool reads only one .cax file at a time (the one with the filename matching the OS id of the current tune file).

Yep that's fine (there's a new cal_lnk.txt file).

I have the CAX in correct folder, opened the CAL and still see the same? Is there a way to know it is working or someway to apply it?

I also got the new cal_link.txt from other thread and installed it. Noticed it had a modification not noted as old one? 7.21.01 was missing and this was referred to about the CAX files?

I neglected to update the comment block at the top of the file... I'll do that soon...

In OS12212156 ... enter B3634 in the search Navigator ... this should open the Engine Calibration>Fuel>Lean Cruise>Parameters folder. In this folder from top to bottom you should see ... B3634, B3635, B3636, B3637, and B3638 without the *.cax file. With the *.cax file there should be one more parameter at the bottom - B9100 (with the posted *.cax files - I use a different number). For B9100 the selectable options should be "Disabled" or "Enabled".

If you don't see this new parameter the *.cax file is not being accessed.

What Taz said... the .cax file adds parameter B9100.

Did not notice B9100 before, but it's there now! :anitoof:

Would this be same scenario for other OS?

Any CALs or threads for safe settings of initail use?

To run LC you to copy the LC tables from a Holden LS1B file.

To run LC you to copy the LC tables from a Holden LS1B file.I was attempting that using compare but can't find one with same OS... guess I an open and get an idea, then figure out what Holden body styles are and compensate for it being a truck.

Nope just got to use your head a bit. Does not have to be same os. Find a comparable everything as in cubic inch, same ecm etc etc etc and populate the parameter. Use a ls1b ecm table from something comparable. And log it and edit it etc. Thats the beauty of efilive, you can make your own tune, with the aid of the scantool.

I merged B9021 into the TF+LC cax files, see post #12 here: cax-file-updates (http://forum.efilive.com/showthread.php?9143-cax-file-updates&p=178939#post178939)

The tune you posted appears to be from the TuneFileDepot website - so I take it this is a hypothetical endeavour at this point in time. Attached below is the tune you posted - setup for Lean Cruise. The settings are OEM conservative, and there is room for optimization.

It must be Full Flashed (OS & Cal) for LC to become active. After that, the LC parameters may be adjusted via a Cal Flash. A word of warning - LC operates in OL, directly from the VE table. The VE table must be reasonably accurate before the first attempt at LC operation. Therefore, after the initial Full Flash to active LC, follow up with a Cal Flash to disable it via vehicle speed - set B3636 & B3637 to their maximum values.

Your correct!

Thank you for your time and effort!

I've been running a Lean Cruise in an older vehicle myself for a few years and done quite a few others. Just new to EFI Live software. The warning of fueling being right is something everyone attempting LC should know.

And as always a thanks to joecar! What's B9021 for?

joecar

B9021 is for setting the injector minimum pulsewidth when you swap to larger injectors (to help with idle).
