the bench harness tutorial is a bit outdated at this point. does anyone have E78 and E83 flash pinouts?

TIA

You will need to look at a wiring schematic for each of E78 and E83 powered vehicles (of which I don't have).

GM Service Manuals or DVD - absolutely indispensable, and worth the cost in the long run.

I have also been looking at the pcm flash pinouts for the newest ecms, and if I get some free time would like to help update that tutorial.

I think Paul has the originals of the pin-out documents (I hope so, because I don't).
I'll send him the details for the E39, E78 & E83. I think that should cover all the missing ones.

Download station info E78= J1-19=battery pos
J1-20=battery pos
J1-43=can low
J1-29=can high
J2-13=switched 12v+
J2-28=switched 12v+
J2-73= gnd

E39= J1-20= gnd
J1-30=gnd
J1-39=can high
J1-40=can low
J1-51=switched 12+
J1-52=battery pos
J1-71=switched 12+
J1-73=switched 12+ Note all pins are in J1 so we don't have the added cost of J2
be sure to use a power supply rated for at least 3 amps as the e39 pulls a lot of current
E78 is the same as the mt-88, Entrol 88
we also put an led on the fuel pump relay pin to see if the cal is valid

Does anyone happen to have the E92? Im wondering if it is the same as the E39.

Also I am looking for the E55, and E83 Diagrams if anyone is able to help.

You can purchase 3 days of access to all GM manuals for $20, from the ACDelco website.

Sign up on a Friday - order in pizza all weekend - and download as many schematics as you would like.

I have access to diagrams through alldata, Im still having trouble getting a couple to communicate

I havent tried the e83, e92 or e39 yet. I have worked on the e55 as well as another Cadillac controller that I dont know the exact controller designation.

I am having trouble getting the e55 and the other Cadillac controller to communicate. I read somewhere that the low speed serial bus in the Cadi controllers wakes up the ecm to allow high speed data. I messed with them last weekend and got nothing out of either of them.

Guess I will just have to keep messing with them. EFI Connection must have figured it out because they sell a harness for the e55.

Are you trying to build harnesses to bench read / flash controllers ?

Yes, I have the pinouts from the computer. hooked up ground, 12v power, ignition voltages and CAN but couldnt get anything out of them. Only ones so far that have given me this much trouble.

For the price EFI Connection charges (Speartech's prices are higher) for their bench harnesses - doing it yourself is not really cost saving - if you factor in materials and all of the time spent.

Just my 2 cents ...

If you have the power (battery and ignition), ground, and CAN High and Low wired correctly, then perhaps you have omitted the Accessory Wakeup input (wire this to 12 volt ignition).

I included it also but cant seem to get it to do a darn thing. I will try again. Maybe im overlooking something.
