I have been checking through the forums to see what is the best way to upgrade to a 2001-2002 Operating system, or PCM. It seems in a few threads I was reading you could flash the 01-02 operating systems on a 1999 PCM. I want to verfify if this is possilbe before I attempt to kill my PCM. I realize that none of my 1999 tune will tranfer, thats OK. I do have EFI Live commercial. I want to upgrade operating systems to run a SD COS with a 2 bar map. Thanks in advance!

You can flash in a newer version OS no problem. So long as it is a PCM of the same size. For example you couldn't take a PCM OS from a 1MB PCM and load it on a 512kb PCM, obviously.
Check out my tune repository (in my sig) and you might be able to find a stock OS for your type of vehicle that is a match for the custom OS you wish to upgrade to.
Hope that helps a bit.

Thanks a lot fo the info, I'll check your site. So there is no need to get 0411 PCM out of a 01-02? Thats what I have done in the past using competitors software. EFI Live rocks!

So, if I decided on using a 2001 LM7 tune file with 485,765 bytes, it would work with my 1999 LM7 PCM with 484,559 bytes. The 2001 OS would be a 12208322 and I could use the COS 01270001 for the 2001 models. Does this sound right?

Yep sounds right to me. I went from a 99 98xxxxxxxx tune to a 12xxxxxx 01+ tune, then Custom OS and flashed in the 01+ calibrations.
efilive does checks before flashing and should tell you off if you are trying to ram something where you shouldnt.
Just make sure you backup your current tune first.
