Code scan 1997 7.4 Vortech?

Hey guys, I just picked up a 97 454/7.4L Vortec powered truck. It's not starting and I want to scan codes. I tried the L31 controller but never got a connection. Is it possible to scan codes with V2? I have a V1 cable somewhere if that will work.

I believe you can. I just had to scan my wifes 98 buick lesabre when the engine light came on and didn't have a problem. Check your fuses, you may not be getting power to the diagnostic link on the truck. It may be the same fuse as the cigarette lighter.

I've programmed a 98 vortech but the 97 is not in the supported list so I'm not sure. V2 lights up just never sees anything. I'm having to work around the rain today.... grr But I'll check all the fuses next. :D Thanks
