What changes need to b made on a tune for when an 80 is installed in place of a 60 tranny.. the truck is an 02 and transmission 05.. I wanted to just transfer all tables from 80 tune to 60 but I was told it wouldn't work... can someone guide me in the rt direction.. I've been playing with tunes for a while now so I can tune a car and mess with it but have never done a 60-80 convert ion thanks

find a stock tune with the same OS as your truck that has an 80e. www.holdencrazy.com Open your 4l60e tune, then go to file, load alternate calibration then choose your 80e tune. go to Edit and go to copy entire segment and copy both transmission diagnostics and calibration, then save your tune and do a full flash. Hope this helps

After you swap the transmission and transmission diagnostics segments (as blazinblue said), you need to repin a few pins on the transmission harness connector.

After reading last night I figured it out and its up and running only problem is lock up.. keeps unlocking on the Fwy every time u let off the gas then locking when u get on it... is this normal on 80s? Is it the tune? I got a stock tune of a truck... I adjusted tune for converter etc....any ideas y?

The truck 4L80E and 4L60E transmission segments do this (unlock TCC on zero throttle).

The F/Y-car 4L60E transmission segments keep the TCC locked on zero throttle.

Actually the 4L60E trucks dont unlock on 0% throttle..
thats why some guys are running the 80E with the 60E tune and relays.. keeps the TC locked up just like the 60E

The 4L60E cars don't unlock on zero throttle...

you need a car transmission segment from a file with the same OS id as your file (12212156 is the most easiest/versatile/available)...

but you will also need to edit the wire subharness (add a relay and repin a few pins).

Now I'm lost.. so what's the proper way? Because the locking and unlockin with a pi triple disk 3600;is pretty annoying.. I need a 60:segment swap from a car and relays? No 80segment will work?

That's correct, there is no 4L80E segment that will keep the TCC locked on throttle release.

Cars only came with 4L60E, so you need the car 4L60E segment, and you have to edit the wire harness, see this:
