06 dodge 3500 4x4 5.9 6 speed g56 88,xxx Had a heavy footprint or something that would not allow me to upload either of my friends 2 smarty s06. I went to my dealer previously for a key, they said the software was stock. I then went to scheid diesel extravaganza, now i tried to get their efi live guy to flash my computer no cables. So i go to the dodge dealer across the street they said they couldn't do anything. I'm very excited owned the truck for 3 days and want to liven it upwith a smarty. I asked haisley machine at the event if they knew anyone and they were as efi live tuner there for pulling. I had him flash it and he put the wrong vin and now my abs, brake light and intermitenly air bag light. He fixed the vin but now i have the mismatch vin code. I tried reseting with the batteries no go. I need a dealer to do this from what im told. Is there any way to fix this other then the dealer? I heard it could be up to 1800$ if they cant fix it with a scanner. i have the name of the guy he has his own shop in indiana. thanks

Les is right, you'll need a trip to the dealer.
You might like to read our Cummins ECM reference notes document which explains how the VIN in the 5.9L works and what needs to be done to keep all of the modules happy. You'll find it here http://www.efilive.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=130&Itemid=134

I have had good luck with just clearing the codes in the other modules with a Snap-On scanner. You might be able to find a shop that can do that for you cheaper then the dealer.

Also I am extremely interested in getting efi live. Computer genius I am not, I was wondering if anyone professional tuners where around Pittsburgh Pa. I am 45 mins north. I plan on purchasing my own so I would be ale to tune in the future (extremely nervous about doing something wrong). I am a 12 valve guy this is my first common rail, i would like a safe and tow able 450-500hp. That seems very achieveable to acquire from what i have read. EFI Live sounds amazing and have had nothing but excellent reviews. I just cant wait to experience it. Thanks for all the assistance

First of all sorry for your troubles. What happened was I put the vin into the box in the tune file and I'm not so sure if i didn't save it or what happened but it got programmed with wrong vin then I tried starting it which is when we realized the vin was wrong. Bottom line my fault! You have my contact info give me a call and I will pay for reflashing the modules in question, within reason (shouldn't be more than hour and a half of labor).

I have a StarScan (dealer tool). If you're near PA I can reprogram the vin.

I have an appointment fri. I had been told that if it doesn't take I will need a new computer. A dodge tech told me this.
