View Full Version : Why won't my rev limit increase?

13926I bumped my rev limit from 6600 to 6900 but it still pegs at 6600. I increased the in gear limiters not the P/N limiter, unless that needs to be bumped too? Doesn't make any sense to me. Is there another thing to change somewhere else? I bumped the fuel cut and ETC rev limiters. I need a few extra RPMs for the front straight at the track I'm hitting on Saturday, last time I was there I kept dinging the stock limit like 1 second before the braking zone. Thinking this is the ticket for the back straight at the next track I'm going to hit again, similar situation there.

I just attached my tune I think, I can't see it myself.

I can't see why either... maybe try looking at this (B6614): Help-Please-on-the-dyno-and-rev-limiter-like-problem-at-4600 (http://forum.efilive.com/showthread.php?20120-Help-Please-on-the-dyno-and-rev-limiter-like-problem-at-4600)

You know I'm really unsure about screwing with the traction control stuff. When I turn the TC off, do these tables remain relevant? I currently assume not, so I've left them untouched so far. The car's still stock FWIW. Unlike the other thread, the car doesn't just lose power, it hits the rev limiter.

On rereading post #1, I agree, your situation is different than that one...

I'm looking thru your tune file and I don't see anything that limits rpms at 6600.

I would try setting B2201 to disable once and see if that makes it use B3303. With B2201 set to enable, it should be using B5401...

By default B5401 is set only to rev limit the engine in 5th gear, effectively being the top speed limiter of the car, so how would that matter? I'll try it nonetheless.

So I went to the track today and all of a sudden, my increased rev limiter is working in 2nd and 3rd. When I tried it on the street, the motor was up to operating temperature. My only concern now is if this is going to be intermittent. I do feel bad whenever I exceed the factory limiter, I think I'll be upgrading the valve springs over the winter as a little insurance.
